Leaving for Drag Week tomorrow morning. Did it last year with no trailer, trying it with the trailer this year. Got about a twenty mile test drive with the trailer, 1000 miles to get there. What could possibly go wrong?

I made it in the top 100 standby people, but I've only made one partial pass so far, so I'm sitting this one out. I will go next year!

Good luck! Post up pics, daily results, things you see, stuff that happens, etc. Inquiring minds want to know!

Great!! Good looking 66. So go have fun and be safe.

What are some basic specs on the car and what does it run?

Great! Have fun!
I'd like to try something like that here on the west coast.... but my car would fit only in a class that I would be four seconds slow, and an uncomfortable ride to boot.
Oh well.

Picture from a gas stop today. 250 miles left for tomorrow. My nephew flew out to DC to play navigator and the week.
Car is a 1966 Satellite, 383 with a 496 stroker kit, 4 speed. Added a Gearvenders and a cruise control after last year. Money well spent.

Good luck have fun...

what does the 496cid 4 speed/66 Satellite run, ET/MPH & what class ?
I'm not familiar with your combo or car

the trailer was a good idea

I'm in street race big block na. With the 3.53 gear it should be capable of mid/low 12s. We will see what happens.I call it the lead brick. 3800lb with driver and half a tank of gas.
I did get here,1070 miles.

:thankyou:
Go get em'
have fun, you made it there, the 1st requirement, now the work & fun begins

hope you get some good rest, in between each event too
hope for no breakage, or minor tuning, if there is anything

I hope you do well
take lots of photos if you get a chance, to document the journey & event/s

Saw one of your runs at Cecil yesterday I think 13.11 at 108... I also saw your rolling burn out. Might want to put a line lock on it so you can get some heat in the tires as that should help with 60ft times.

How crowded is it at this event and how long is a typical wait time in-between runs (or how many runs do you get to do in a day)? I've only dragged my car at a timed track twice - once was a test and tune Friday night and there was virtually no wait time and I was able to get 6 runs in 2 hrs or less, that was awesome! The other event was a Wednesday night deal with around 100 cars and after driving 2.5 hrs to get there in stop and go traffic the last hour, for a 5 hr time on site I was only able to run my car twice. That really sucked, especially waiting with the car in line and it was hot as hell air temps. I wish there were still some Drag strips within an hour of where I live. Have fun out there and go fast! These cars are meant to be run hard:)

Good luck Go rounds & miles  have fun

Don't get drag radials too hot, in the burn out,
or any soft/er compounds on a bias slick either
roll thru the water, start outside the water box,
then get them just to barely smoke, a static burnout is better
(but do what you have to)
spin them just long enough to clean them & get a lil' heat in them

4 speeds like a lil' stiffer sidewall too,
adj. shocks make a huge difference too stiffen them up some if you can
slow down the rebound too

I found on my old M/Ts DRs, they get slimy/greasy when you'd do long burnouts
maybe play with PSI too,
my bias ply Goodyears wanted a long smoky burnout,
like 25 seconds
when mine DRs were new, like 18psi running 9.70's-9.90s @135 N/A 479cid/383
(was not anywhere near the fastest I've owned/raced tuned by a long stretch)
the bias plys, Goodyears were between like 6psi & 9psi, 'newer the higher psi'
(I ran bladders/liners in them too, helped the shock/sidewalls of dumping a clutch)
at the most, depending on track prep, as they wore, I'd run a lil' less psi
w/3.90- 4.10:1 gears usually
But;
as they wore a bit, got older I found like 14-15psi on the DRs worked best,
as low as 12psi, it was lil' sketch on the top end thou, wondered
in a 68 RR fully dressed, thru exhaust @ 3520# w/o driver,
I am 250#ish (or was) so 3770#s appr.

It's a pretty big event. I saw some cars go down 4 times maybe a few went 5 in 5 1/2 hours but this is not about beating your car. It's about making the fastest pass and leaving to go to the next track. Longevity and consistent quick passes for your class is what you want. Some ran 1 and done and on to the next track. After watching it with my wife she seemed interested in it and was asking about it. Hopefully I can do this one year.

Finished the week today and got my T-shirt. 13.241 at 107.94. Bogged bad off the line, I need more rpm on the launch, it's just hard to convince my foot to send it when my brain is telling it I have to drive this thing a thousand miles home.
With 400 cars to get down the track you don't get unlimited runs, you might get three or four if you stayed until they closed the lanes. But you also need to drive 5 or more hours to the next track so a lot of people do a one and done unless they're in contention to win their class.
