The Most Wasted 70 R/T Charger Ever...

Looks to be nothing special

This one is relatively basic. Buckets, console, roll up windows, am radio. No idea on rear end, it was replaced. It has no trick options.
 
A friend once had a derelict '69 Charger at his place. I inquired about getting the factory 4-piston Bendix disc brakes off it for my 1967 Coronet R/T restoration. I came home from work one day to find that he had dropped the carcass off in my laneway with his tow truck. I got the last laugh, however. Not only did I get the disc brakes, the car also had power windows that I salvaged. The shell of the Charger also contained a lot of junk that someone had thrown in. While sorting down through the layers of this stuff, near the bottom, I found hundreds of $$$ worth of NOS stainless exterior trim, still in Chrysler wrappers; all the front and rear window surrounds, grill centre piece and surrounds, tail light surrounds, set of wheel well mouldings, complete set of side marker lights. I contacted a friend that was restoring a 1969 Hemi Charger R/T. He was happy to pay me $500.00 for all this "junk". This was about 1990; I realize this would be much more $$$ now.

What part of the ocean do you trawl to find these Chargers? It's a shame that the gonna restore it someday crowd let's such cool cars get that bad!
 
Here in Western NY, this is how it goes. Buy car new in 1970 and drive year round, right through the winters. By late 70s, car is getting rough, so mud it up, replace sheet metal, use as winter car till early 80s. When springs go through the trunk, junk it and get another car. The guy I've been getting these cars from kept dozens upon dozens of cars like this to keep his fleet of very nice mopars alive....most simply got crushed around here.
Yes, it sucks, but that's New York living as a Mopar guy.

Imagine if these were nice cars still...70 V code black 4-speed roadrunner, 70 500 charger, and real EK2 R/T Charger. I could retire.

It’s not for sale I’m going to restore it or I know what I’ve got so don’t try to low ball me. Of course it’s a 97 year old guy who hasn’t driven a car in 15 years that says both of those.
 
My parents drove their 70 Charger R/T SE year round in New England, I rarely ever saw the car get washed. It survived the blizzard of 78. I never saw rust on the car until it was 10 years old. My bedroom was in the basement and the car was parked right outside my window. I remember seeing rust bubbles starting around 1980.
 
In my area they seemed to get daily driven for about 5 years. Then when I picked them up when they were about 10 years old they needed the quarters fixed behind the rear wheels. E-bodies had the trunk shot within 5 years, B-bodies trunks shot at about 10 years it seemed. Humidity here wasn't the problem it was in a lot of areas. I'll take west coast rust over east coast rust anytime. I've seen guys list 70, 440 R/T's for $100k. They probably don't get that easily but I still think $20k in AMD and a bunch of hours would be worth it for 70 R/T if you like them and who doesn't?
 
The Texas coast isn't too kind to cars either....especially if you drove on the beach a lot which I did. I'd come home and grab my driveway ramps and go to the car wash and spend a dollar or two. Keep in mind that a self serve car wash was 25 cents back then.
