Hey all!
I've been lurking around FBBO for a few months looking up information as I've been getting started. Figure it's high time I signed up and got rolling on here.
Finally got my hands on a muscle car, and excited to get her up and running. I do warn you, I have no idea what I'm doing - but I'm having a blast and learning as much as I can as I go!
My motto for this is "It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be mean."
Project: 1973 Dodge Charger, affectionately dubbed "Black Dog" in honor of the folk tales of ill omens and such - that and hopefully the engine growls mighty nasty once the rebuild is done. Also jokingly called Frankencar as the previous owner used a lot from another parts car to get it built back better. Also also because it's 400 big block has a casting date of Halloween 1972, so that's a lot of fun.
The plan is to build back the car as is with the 400 big block and 727 3-speed that came with it, with a Mad Max/Iron Warriors inspired look. Mostly because I don't have the time currently to do the bodywork necessary or the money to hire someone to do it... But that's okay, dents and dings galore welcome (copiously present on the front fenders and around the back quarter wheel wells)! Eventually I would like to either build a 440 for the car, or build the 400 as either a 451 or 512 stroker. Another idea was to eventually swap out the transmission and engine with a Viper engine, but that's mostly a thought in the "fun idea" bin.
Everything was disassembled, so it's been slow going taking care of what needs doing. For now I have a good enough paint job done to start weatherstripping, which I should be able to tackle some of this week. I added a mopar trunk stripe around the back, done as hazard stripes. The doors still need painted and one window assembly repaired too. And much, much more. I got the appropriate service manuals for the year, but boy howdy I'm sure I'll be asking plenty of questions of those far wiser and experienced than myself.
Cheers all! Enjoy the few pictures I have for the Charger!
