Woke up at 1:23 this morning and laid there for another hour and finally got up. Eh, got about 5 hours sleep but pretty much took it easy yesterday. Got about 9 hours Sunday night though.

The older I get, it seems as though I only need about 6 hours of sleep.
 
Insomnia. I lay down about 5 AM and wake around 11 AM. But you wouldn't believe the amount of work I get done in the overnight hours.
 
If I sleep till 6, it's a long time, 5 seems to be my number most often. We go to bed between 11 and 12.
I used to get up at 4:20 every morning, forever. That's been years ago and I still can't totally reset. I still can't get past no longer needing a longer day to get my 30 hour busy day schedule in....................

Time zones, and Savings Time. I went to bed earlier than normal, thus wakin' up early

Three years into retirement, I'm still going through withdrawal from the last 20 years when I started my work day at 4:00 am. Unlike RC, I'm sleeping 50% more now, trying to make up for decades of sleep deprivation. My primary care doctor of 15 years called me a freak of nature that was genetically engineered to drive a truck, only reason I'm still kicking.

Take more melatonin before going asleep.

 
The gf goes to bed early. I try to stay up till midnight to let the dogs out. They then wake me up around 4-4:30 to go out again.
I may or may not get back to sleep. I do sometimes check in here then.
By 6:30, they are breaking into the bedroom demanding to go play (with me). Sun up? = play time!
 
For the last 25 years of my employment time I worked both night and day shift, 12 hour shifts, 7 to 7. Still pretty screwed up in retirement as I am normally up till 3 or 4 am in the morning. My best sleep is from 4am to 8am. I understand you night owls completely.
 
Well, since I'm not retired yet (~ 9 years to go), I wake up between 4-5 am. That gives me a couple of hours in the garage before I go to work. Then after work, I get another hour or 2 in the garage before spending time with the wife (have to keep her happy). I figure if I work on the car 15-20 hours during the week, and get another 10-20 hours on the weekend, it's like having another full-time job! Of course, this one costs me money vs making money! I do enjoy the hands-on work and seeing my progress. It's the hobby I didn't know I needed :)
 
Snooze around 9:30 to 10:00 and up around 0645 to 0700.
Sounds reasonable to me. If Shirley is about, I make coffee and deliver it to here in bed.
 
Your body gets used to a certain wake up time it seems

I can go to bed anywhere from 8pm to 11pm and Im still awake by 6am. sometimes earlier
I'll try to go back to sleep. But most cases not likely

Thus Im up and at it typically by 7am at the latest

My morning routine is get my coffee . play on the computer a while .
Grab something easy for breakfast . Then on to my day. which usually consists of playing with my toy cars tuff , might tinker with the cars
Any house work needs done. etc etc etc

Just finished a major bathroom remodel last month.
Next summer house gets new tile floors thruout
