Needs harness and installed. Windshield and touch up paint to hood and cowl.. Any idea of ballpark cost for harness installation. Anyone in WNY who does this " reasonably "

It's an easy DIY. Just buy a new harness from M&H/YearOne and download a service manual with a wire schematic and Bob's your Uncle. I installed my first engine harness when I was 16 with no prior experience or schematic. Just laid it out along the old one, replace it one plug at a time , working my way from one end to the other. You probably need a bulkhead connector and a set of battery cables and any other harness that was burned.

I'd be surprised if the hood doesn't have any warpage or anymore damage to wiring under the dash.....

Looks like you have residue from an ABC fire extinguisher. Better clean that stuff off before it starts to corrode the metal parts.

I'm in my 7th decade. Going under the hood, much less under the dash, is not gonna happen.

I asked about the wiring under the dash now to see about damage. He says the hood is not warped. Cowl I don't know. The dash and the pad are alright.

I'm almost 76, wiring is easy, plug and play. Pull the front seats and steering column if you replace the dash harness. Just finished a total M&H rewire on my Road Runner. To get your engine bay back, really, you need to pull the engine, that's too nice of a car to half *** it. Same with the interior.
If the valve covers or engine got HOT, better check the valve springs, and everything else that melted or burned.

I had something similar happen in 2000 (purely my own fault).
It took quite a while to repair/clean.
You have all my sympathy this looks pretty severe from what I can tell.

If his hood isn't warped I'm pretty certain everything in the engine would be fine.
But I'd be looking to replace every wire/cable under the hood.

Yes, too many amp alternator will blow a hole in the wire and basically send a lightning bolt to the closest ground path.

A couple of hours to clean and replace the engine harness at a shop's hourly rate for your area.

Years ago the alternator hot wire found ground through the loom strap on the back of the /6 valve cover. Luckily, the fusible link worked and shut everything down before a fire could result. Just so happens that I looked at that harness first and found the bad spot.
