hmmmmm. I wonder who added the resistors to the speaker leads. None of the '68-vintage radios on my shelf have hem.

They are your front speaker wires. Red is switched 22v and orange is lights.

The one does look like a resistor but i'm guessing it's just a butt splice that was crimped a few times.

Poor quality butt connectors and poor workmanship will act like a resistor and increase resistance
