Went to another shop much closer to me as my ride was pretty much stripped down yet using bungee-cords to keep the doors closed to drive there and just driver’s seat in, lol. Shop came highly recommended, not the first time I had crap work done by a highly reputed shop. Well, after the butcher...
I used a shop some years ago in Hales Corners and they did excellent work; going back to them after having a sorry job done on a top at another shop. Perfection Auto - easy access right off I-43 on Hwy 100.
Another couple cents for the OP in case you haven’t come across it: The MC bore size is different for manual and power brakes; doesn’t sound applicable if you already had power brakes, nor would the pedal ‘ratio’ – things I encountered with my conversion. Also sounds like you have pretty much...
I bought it a few years ago online as the auto stores I checked didn't stock them, at least then. They're on Amazon for dirt cheap...lol, think I paid more for this one back when! How can this be possible?
How much playing was required, if any was done, with the pedal linkage adjusting? This can be a number of things (as I found out after a brake conversion including from manual to power). Seems elementary; but make sure the pads are not binding in the calipers watching them with a partner...
Some guys find the sweet deals! HS bud, now living in AZ, did a neat resto on a ’54 Chebby wagon having what looks as identical wheels on it. When he sent me photos I said wow, where did you find those wheels? He paid around what you did – brand new at a meet! Some guys have all the luck, lol.
Kind a like a lot of things, about name it. Some get away with the stuff they pull and some don’t. Problem is – nobody knows who will and who won’t. Would also be a crime if they impound these rides to sit in some parking areas exposed to the elements…aside from being a dumbass thing to do.
What’s with the trash-chat about Nacho? I did some unusual modifications on my ride; Nacho was real patient as I came back with questions and every connection he was suggesting worked just fine. Once he had pointed out some things, I was able to get a better handle on what’s-what. I have some...
Wow, and here I’m peeved about a damaged bearing. Gotta wonder how careless or incompetent (or a combination of both) a so-called PRO-shop can be. Installing the wrong crank and rods? And more is the shop not responding or blaming you. The shop I’m referring to STILL seems to have a fine...
This bearing in this condition couldn’t be prone to fail? In all my years never came across anything like this. I looked at this after 3,500 miles…not thinking I want to put it back in.
That used to be me, but pushing 70 now after a few surgeries, I have a shop do a few things now I used to do. Fixing this brake conversion took a while and then finding this bearing installed was unbelievable. Had to take some force to cave it in…like the damage was intentional. There are deep...
There’s a lot more to my story, the pedal linkage eyebolt was bent, among other things, to the extent of possibly jamming in the firewall pass through maybe obtaining NO brakes and pointed this out to the shop as WTF? Buddy at a machine shop machined a new one for me out of decent steel.
This...
While back I posted about my ills with a shop installing an SSBC kit on my ’63. I had it in the shop for a sure-grip problem and as I was planning on a disk brake conversion they said why don’t ya let us do it? I had been traveling like nuts then so thought ok, why not. MISTAKE. The rework I had...
Adding on my earlier post, I had tried a few different paint products finding Herb's the nicest match when painting the leather console. The seats and panels were done by Legendary, the dash by Just Dashes, about 20-years ago. My '63 is a vert, so years of sunshine fading somewhat while the...
Welcome. Sweet Polara you bought to keep you off the rocker. One of my favorite early B's. It looks so nice you can also sit on the porch looking at it too. Send us some more photos btw cruising.
