Coolant from exhaust header stud bolt

Permatex #2 never totally hardens. It's almost like pipe dope. No silicone, more of a tar substance. It's been around a lot longer than me.

Coolant from exhaust header stud bolt

I'd remove the header and do a close inspection of that hole. If it has a crack you might be chasing your tail. If it is cracked you might be able to repair it in the car.

    Gear ratio

With all of the pitting on the gear I'd have to wonder what the bearings look like. You'll find the pitting from the vehicle sitting for many years and the moisture gets to the top of the gear that's not submerged in gear lube.
