How high above the tank does your vent from the fuel pump get?
No worries or issues with fuel siphoning out?
I have a similar setup, except the vents from both the TanksInc tank and sending unit connect to the fuel inlet tube, high to prevent siphoning, (then a loop, then down outside the car).
Based on the pic, bring both the tank and sender vent higher into the trunk before joining.
Filling the tank.
I have efi, friend with the same exact car, factory original carburetor.
We both cannot fill the tank completely full, it will puke it out.
Imo, modern pumps don't allow one to...
Lube it up, it can twist or 'roll' or stretch and become distorted or worse.
Could also prevent the tube from seating correctly, or spread the grommet out where the groove becomes bigger than the thickness of the tank opening.
I wish I kept that carb, had it on a few engines and it was always trouble free, easy to tune, and seemed to perform better.
I noticed the Summit version has the fuel lines coming in at 45 degrees, where the Holley was straight.
Also, I remember the Holley had a groove in the top of the base...
No. It was a Holley brand new out of the box from the local parts store, back when the local parts store had real speed equipment.
I do recall that Summit now has a carb that looks identical, whether it is identical I do not know.
Summit did not have this style when I bought the Holley.
Speaking of carbs, does anyone remember this carb?
Iirc it was a Holley.
I bought it brand new from the local parts store along with the Edelbrock intake.
It was a great carb, I remember the top came off in one piece making it easy and mess free to adjust the floats.
My tunnel ram with aluminum heads and 1:1 linkage gives me no issues, when I had carbs on it and now with efi.
Curious, how do those low dual quad intakes distribute fuel to all 8 with progressive linkage, or maybe the question is do they do it well?
I never ran one, I knew a guy who put one...
My wagon tank had a hole in the bottom, bought the Tanks Inc. sending unit block off kit, cut the hole out to the size of the sending unit, bolted on, done.
No leaks in years.
Holley gaskets are garbage and can't take a few turns of the needle/seat nut/bolt.
They also tend to stick to one of both sides and tear horizontally, one gasket becoming 2 gaskets that will never seal.
I had the same issue the other day, replaced the gaskets and put a little grease on both...
I installed a ground and positive hub under the dash, as well as a ground hub next to the battery.
No more running/splicing wires together, bad connections, multiple wires on the battery terminals, etc.
Iirc, I ran both the ignition and start wires to the positive hub, I have an electronic...
Tunnel ram on a warmed over 383 with aluminium heads beats an 850 Holley on a Performer RPM intake.
Ran this 383 with the single 850, tunnel ram with 390s, 600s, then efi.
Tunnel ram with 600s on a stock rebuilt 383 hp engine, 850 a bit better.
I wouldn't bother with a low and slow dual quad...
Do all those things, and twist the headlight switch back and forth a few hundred times, sometimes an old switch needs an internal "cleaning."
On my a-body, the screws that hold the cluster to the dash are the ground, so I built a small cluster harness to ground everything to a stud where the...
Isn't the plug brass, and can that be soldered to zinc?
Ordering a new bowl, probably get 2, once I get, just for the heck of it, I'll probably see if I can knock out the plug on the leaker and see if it can be tapped and plugged.
I read a review on Summit, and apparently this is called a welsh plug, and on the "new side hung 4160 carbs on the Holley website now show that they have abandoned the welsh plug and are now using screwed in plugs."
This review was from 2 years ago.
So I went to Holley's website and sure...
