It's becoming pretty obvious both types got used.. And I think the smaller ones look better... Unfortunately for me, mine came with the bigger design....
So now that I'm home, I tried getting ahold of my buddy with the 69 R/T... Turns out he's in the Azores visiting family... Won't be back till mid April...
My 68 was built in St louis and uses the "A" body style... As does my buddies 69.....
End of the day I suspect most 68 & 69 Dodge B bodies got that style lights..
My understanding is the "Scat Pack" club was started in 68, but it was a deal where you would join by sending in a entry form to whoever handled it for Chrysler & they would mail out a packet with assorted "Stuff" decals, patches, flyers promoting hats & jackets... That continued through 69...
Yeah, it was odd, she insisted it was on the car when they bought it & if the dealer had swapped it they would have charged for it... Unless someone bought an R/T and didn't want the hood... Doubt that...
Back in the 70's the was a neighbor around the corner from where I lived that had a 68 Coronet 500 that for some reason had a bulge hood... Little old lady drove it, she and he husband bought it new... He's since passed but the car wasn't special, just for some reason it got a bulge hood...
So, I bought a repo many years ago, the posts are longer than a original emblem... If you attach the emblem with some kind of clip the posts are so long they would contact the body panel and push the panel out from when it is supposed to live...
Anyway what I did was grind away the posts down...
Yup. the locations are different..But the R/T emblem will cover the 500 emblem holes... Unfortunately the Repo R/T emblem fit like crap....The contour is wrong & it leaves a couple pretty unsightly gaps....
