I tested the gauge with an old sending unit. Ran a jumper wire from sending unit wire to an old sending unit. Then a ground wire from the old sending unit to a spot on the car. When the old sending unit was on empty the gauge read a 1/4 So the gauge in the car reads a 1/4 when the tank is...
Here is on for ya. When my dad & I restored the 67 gtx we bench tested all the gauges. Every thing worked good. Put in a new fuel sending unit in. Tested all the wires. Since dad had passed I only driven the car a hand full of times. No matter how much gas you put in it only would read between a...
The engine was built no stock. I myself & my friends know more about the MSD. I know nothing about the points. I would think the way the engine was built it would need a hotter spark.
Thanks guys. I will find a way to bypass the ballast resister. Now does that mean I no longer need the blue wire that was on the positive side of the coil from the factory wiring ?
Has anyone took a dual point distributor & coil & changed it all to a MSD system ? On my dads 67 GTX 440 he had a new distributor & coil. I changed it to a MSD distributor, coil, 6al box & wires. He had bought all new under the hood wiring. Now there is a blue wire that connected to the positive...
Yep I had the wires all wrong. The only thing different from yours is your s has a blue wire & mine has a gray wire. The fuel gauge works now. I didn't start it to see if the water temp gauge works.
I took the gauge cluster out today. As in your picture the voltage limiter plugs in to the cluster. The one on mine has wires plugging into the voltage limiter. There is two red wires on the back of the fuel gauge. One of those wires plugs into the voltage limiter.
I am going to start with a new voltage limiter. Kramer is going to see if they have one if not Tonys parts have them. What is the wire that is screwed below the voltage limiter & has the round cylinder ? I notice that your dash cluster is different from a 62 Plymouth. My dads from his 62 dodge...
Ok started to work on my dads (aka xman) 62 polara. Started it up & none of the gauges work except for the alt. gauge. The water & fuel sending units are new. The fuel sending unit has the ground strap. What am I missing ?
My dad bought a RONCO magneto distributor new in the late 60s. Him & his brothers were in the proses of building a 65 Plymouth drag car. Any ways. I just might want to sell it if its worth any thing. Its new in box. They were building a 383.
OK, got things figured out. On the back of the fuse box you can plug other things in. Someone plugged in a pink wire where it is hot only when the switch is on. I pugged it in a spot where it is hot all the time & I replaced the NEW flashers with other new ones. Now we have all the lights inside...
HI, my name is wayne & I am helping my dad restore his 67 gtx. When we turn the key on the interior lights come. The only way to shut them off is turn the key off or shut the door. Anyone have any ideas ? It doesn't matter where the light switch is turned to. Also the temp gauge goes all the way...
