I have a '72 HP block that all of that would fit right into. Hopefully somebody nearer to you can use it. That is some good stuff, mainly the crank, balancer and the windage tray, the cam may be a good one too. All that stuff is getting harder to find. To me there is nothing like original and...
Cast crank is externally balanced, so you will have to have it balanced with the flywheel and correct harmonic balancer. I have heard they are good up to 500 HP.
How much oil pressure would you have without the short spring? What makes your oil pressure so high? Just curious. My 440 runs around 80 psi with a high volume pump.
Thanks
Change the filter to a Wix and fill it up with VR1 20w-50 (or equivalent) and get it warm and see what the oil pressure is. 10 LBS per 1000 RPM is the minimum standard. You want at least 50 lbs at 5000 rpm.
I say trust the engineers at the oil companies and use the oil that is formulated for "racing and classic cars". There is a few. They cost a little more than the modern formulations, but they are made for flat tappet cams. No need to speculate and worry about what you are mixing up. You probably...
Show us some pictures of the engine and we might be able to help you. You will have to get under the car to see the casting date. The pad on the top front of the engine should have a date stamp.
What are you trying to do with it?
Probably too rich. Find out what the factory jetting was on the 3310 and go down at least 6 sizes for your altitude. Advance the timing until it's hard to crank then back off a little.
Probably not the best intake manifold for a heavy car either. Perfomer or a stock one would make it more...
What kind of car is it? Not relevant, but I am curious. Maybe show us some pictures of it.
Sounds like it has potential. Maybe that stock cam would be a big improvement on the low end torque.
