Without the rubber on the rod it works out?
Sounds like it's not seated using the rubber. Like Kern said look in the bore for a machined section for the rubber to lock into.
More than likely to keep up with the competitors. Or bring them back. It wasn't a new thing.
Pontiac had the three twos back in the 50s, TriPower.
Ford used them.
Chevrolet used them.
The 50s Hot Rods souped their flat heads up with aftermarket setups.
You'll see scaring on the bolt heads and maybe some metal flakes in the bottom of the bell housing. Also the sheet metal plate that's used behind the starter can make contact with the flywheel if it's bent.
Try it without the shims!
And check to make sure the torque converter bolts are not hitting.
(Maybe if I repeat what was already posted he might try it)
They aren't producing any rubber products with the chemicals that they used to use. Park your car with the sun shining on it everyday and tell me how long your wiper blades last. You'll be lucky to get a year out of them. Belts, bushings, motor mounts, the list goes on. Thanks to the EPA we all...
Like I said mine is original to the car. Maybe contact REM and ask them how they recommend shaping them.
Edit: I see you already did. Maybe a heat gun or last resort a small steamer.
The package tray is held in place with two push through buttons on top and a screw at each end behind the seat.
How much exposure do they get to the outside elements especially direct sunlight?
I bought mine in 2017 and forgot to check the date on them before I had them mounted. They can sit in storage for quite awhile. The dates on mine are 2013, already four years old. So now they're actually eleven...
Looks like the aftermarket has the lines where you fold it. My original must have been formed.

I "Google Lense" the pics and the only other pic was the one on here from the first deleted thread. I think the seller might be legit. Some of his phrases aren't normally used by foreign scammers. If he is a scammer he's from the States.
