What's the deal with smelling and tasting the oil?

You can tell by the smell if there's fuel getting into it, or if it's been overcooked...taste it though? No thanks!

    Aluminum Radiator Options

When ambient temps get high, so will the engine temp, that's a fact of life. The radiator using 85 degree air is a far cry from it using 100+ degree air, as far as what you'll see on the temp gauge. Another thing that never gets mentioned, is road surface temps and heat radiation. On a 100...

Anybody use Vibrant mufflers on a big block?

Okay so sounds like the Dyno Max/Ultra Flow type. I can't imagine it could be much different so look for those sound clips on the You-Tube, that should at least give the OP an idea.

Anybody use Vibrant mufflers on a big block?

Try to find out if it's a chambered or glasspack design. There's not much difference between brands, but the actual sound of these two designs is quite different. Chambered = "Flowmaster" sound Glasspacks = "Cherry Bomb" sound The loudness of either of these is determined by the...

    Big Block Dipstick

...require a little tweak to fit the bracket to the engine mount boss but that's cake. I smear a nice thin film of sealer on the end, stab it, bolt it and go....no leaks or problems ever. Oil consumption discovery

Well crap....I've got 7 Dwayne. Who knows what happened to #8...probably used it to open a beer bottle or something else stupid and it rolled under one of the work benches haa.. I see where those are missing from Carl/Ckessel's setup.

    Oil consumption discovery

Many 'aftermarket' shafts have the top oil holes and don't have the offset bottom ones, I guess they're assuming they're for aluminum (or steel) roller rockers which ususally don't care about that offset. If da' Kern is out of stock I'm positive I have some stockers up in the...

    Haydon clutch fan

Nick- The drawback of that shorty clutch is, it makes installation a little more of a hassle but they do work well. The important thing is exactly how much room do you have between the pulley and the radiator? Radiator thickness and where in the mounts the engine actually got bolted down all...

...yet you still bothered responding... Most people under the age of 70 probably got the reference...and I would love to see you spell the word ORIGINAL correctly, just once (it only has one 'o' btw)....that would warm my heart:)

I get to install this oil pan twice, yay!

Yes yes yes! Using a 1/4" drive with one hand makes it hard to over-tighten these...of course some guys can screw up anything...but this is how I do it too and no problems. Another tidbit I learnded from a former (old guy!) Chrysler factory race pro was to NOT use grade 8 bolts...grade 5s are...
