Yes that sounds like a good idea and of course i will be very gentle on the car during the first thousand miles or so.
I think the crossfire cars are probably a great choice if you want to do a carburetor conversion.
I assume that would be a lot easier on those cars than the later ones which...
Also thanks for all the positive comments on the color.
I also think that it's probably the best one for this car even if it wasn't rare.
And aesthetics aside we all know that green cars are better for the environment right? :D
What would be definitely less "safe" is taking a nascar hemi superbird on the autobahn and attempting a 200mph run.
I think this would top the guy going 260mph in his bugatti and they were even talking about suspending his license... (For reckless driving)
Well the fastest car i owned prior to this corvette is a 1989 Mercedes Benz 560 SEC which i can tell you from experience tops out at about 150mph.
I did those 150mph multiple times with "Economy" branded tires and the suspension has 150k miles on it. Still feels reasonably safe. :D
Edit...
Well i'm sure they expect me to take it on the autobahn but i'm not sure if they expect me to go anywhere near 180mph in a 36 year old vehicle.
The inspection is different for classic cars but AFAIK it doesn't make a difference if its a ZR-1 like mine or a MK1 Rabbit.
The advantage of older...

1 of 16 with Turquoise Metallic Paint
1 of 3 with Turquoise Metallic Paint + Saddle Interior
Some of you know that i was toying with the idea of getting a 90 zr-1 for quiet some time now. (10 years total, 5...
Well i have a 69 but if i needed them i would only buy AMD if i cannot find nice original ones.
I do not really enjoy buying aftermarket anything these days.
This Chevelle i just saw on BAT proves my point...
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-chevrolet-chevelle-129/
I could buy a Condition 1-2 1990 ZR-1 for literally 1/10th of the price someone spent to build that chevelle.
Dont get me wrong this is a beautiful pro touring car but 600k is wild...
I will never understand how marketplace became so popular since the interface/filtering is REALLY crappy.
I guess it's because everyone is using facebook anyway and craigslist started charging for car ads...
Unless i win a big lottery jackpot or get rich otherwise i would not touch restomod/pro touring cars. It's just too expensive.
Yes if you can do all the work yourself it might be doable but most people (including me) can't.
Instead i would get a decent original 60s/70s car and something like a...
Of course, i forgot to mention that one!
Yes that's definitely one of those auctions that i've seen in the past without paying real attention to the name. Thanks for mentioning!
In the last couple of months i started following bringatrailer.com auctions to get a better feel for the market.
Of course i also know the other major ones like mecum, barrett jackson as well as hemmings, autohunter.com, carsandbids.com (which is more of a "used" car site).
But i've seen other...
Yes i know. That's why i came up with the theory that the first owner of the car had the valley pan replaced but this did not fix the leak.
Then his mechanic told him this is something bigger and he decided to park the car.
A Couple decades later someone else sold the car to me either knowing...
