    Choke question, stock 383 2bbl

I was going after a high idle in neutral/ park issue this weekend and noticed that when throttle is applied that my choke linkage will suck down into the intake and with a quick enough snap of the throttle will actually set my screw on one of the choke butterfly cam points. Does the choke have...

    Lug studs spun

Yeah, I just noticed I never updated the post either. I ended up getting the ones that had a slightly smaller diameter and welded them in place. So far holding together great. I tried all 3 sizes that showed up on the Napa guy's computer and none fit quite right.

    turn signal bulb replacement

I ended up ordering and installing some led bulbs in them. They work really bright, now my only problem is getting the ground right on the driver's side one

    turn signal bulb replacement

Well nevermind. Its just a little 330 bulb and slides in. Well, its supposed to anyway.. this one was all crispy and didn't want to come out

    turn signal bulb replacement

67 coronet with the hood mounted turn signal indicators. Right now one works fine, other is dead. Swapped housings and confirmed that the bulb is dead. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the bulb out without damaging the lens or the housing.

    Feels like dragging an anchor

Seems that it was likely the kickdown being too tight. Took it to work yesterday, about a 50 mile round trip, and didnt have any issues other than a squeaky belt.

    Feels like dragging an anchor

Update: so today I put on new tires, readjusted kickdown, installed a kickdown return spring and went for a spin. No issues out today. With the return spring gives a new meaning to shifting like a granny. Driving through a parking lot I was in 2nd at 12mph and 3rd at 20 just feathering the...

    Feels like dragging an anchor

Electronic. Confirmed proper air gap and distributor play when I had everything apart. I dont get my oil pressure light coming on when it happens and that has been one thing that was always the first thing to pop on when I've had an running issue down to flickering with a previous misfire from...

    Feels like dragging an anchor

I'll check around at work to see if I have a spring tucked away in my toolbox somewhere that will fit it, or maybe check napa tomorrow in their misc hardware section. It's always shifted like a granny since I've had the car about 10 years now but then again I dont drive it hard. Shifts at 20 and...

    Feels like dragging an anchor

I do have a follow up question as I cant find a very good picture online: is the original kickdown supposed to have some kind of spring retention to the throttle linkage? Mine sits about 1/2 way in the adjuster linkage at idle. Always been this way as far as I can remember. I can physically pull...

    Feels like dragging an anchor

I have been leaning on replacing the muffler anyway even before these symptoms showed up... I have just replaced the fuel pump while I had the front cover off. Another thing that kinda pushes me away from fuel issue is after it "kicks back on" I can get on it and it will accelerate fine for the...

    Feels like dragging an anchor

My original thought was maybe the brakes locked up on me but the 2nd time it happened I had done nothing with the brakes. It slowed for about 100 feet then popped loose. Very much felt like something physically releasing but like I said, I gave no input to the brakes before, during, or after the...

    Feels like dragging an anchor

I rebuilt it myself. Carter 2bbl (the square one, not the round one). The only change I made to that was running the dist off manifold vacuum instead of ported at the recommendations of a few engine builders. All linkage and float adjustments were done to the installation instructions that came...

    Feels like dragging an anchor

Car always had some hiccups when accelerating and hard starting. Replaced the timing chain and rebuilt carb. Now starts right up even after 3 days sitting. Trans was apart due to a few leaks that needed attention. Resealed and adjusted bands while I was in there. Like I said, it shifts good...

    Feels like dragging an anchor

It's very possible it's not adjusted correctly. I wasnt sure on proper adjustment and I think I set it to bottom out with WOT. Fluid looks clean still. Has less than 15 miles on it since it was changed. Old fluid was pretty goopy thanks to some blue devil additive that was put in some time ago.

    Feels like dragging an anchor

1967 coronet 4 door 383/727. Car drives great most of the time. Every now and then I'll be cruising along then no thrust no matter the accelerator input. I can let off and it feels like I am dragging something until I hit about 10mph and feels like something kicks loose then will drive great...

    Fighting a low charging issue

I'll have to give this a shot when I have some down time. Thank you for having that in an easy to follow manner. It does have 2 spades but appears they are both labeled FLD. Will that make a difference?

    Fighting a low charging issue

67 coronet 4 door 383/727. As far as I know stock and anything that has been replaced is "oem equivalent " from parts store. Replaced alternator after I took it in to be tested by parts store, had a dead rectifier. Installed new alternator. Only putting out 12v at idle and doesnt increase with...

    Tuning questions timing and carb

So I would set timing with the dist disconnected still for good idle and start and then just plug her into constant vacuum source with, theoretically, no more adjustment needed? Then play with carb, then do all again a second time, yes?

    Tuning questions timing and carb

Yeah, I was surprised it hadn't jumped teeth yet. It probably helps that I drive it like a grandpa and the person who owned it before was the original owner.
