One thing to emphasize when I did this. I used a couple pieces of lumber to get the regulator arm level so the new slider was flat on the metal plate. This was to prevent the peg from peening over sideways in the hole, if the slider had not been flat on the metal plate. The metal ball stud in...
I bit the bullet and replaced the slider piece myself taking it slow. I ground off the peened over peg on the old slider and removed it by lightly tapping with a punch and hammer. It came out easy. I installed the new slider/peg into the arm and laid the plastic side down on a 1/2" steel plate...
This is on a 72 Challenger but I see the 71-72 Chargers have the same type of slider. I posted on two E-body sites but didn't get an answer so I thought I would ask here as they are very similar. A search here had someone with a similar situation on a B-body but no answers. I asked him how it...
I did get some of the silicone ones but these were much better. I couldn't get the silicone ones to work properly. I don't know what I did with the silicone ones. I wish I could remember where I got these.

73/74 bumper fillers home made reproductions, someone interested ?
Here it is.
Actually, all the ones in my photos are hard/flexible like the originals, not the soft silicone ones. The corners have the metal plates attached. Interesting.

I'm a little confused on the 1973-74 Charger bumper filler pieces front and rear. Several years ago, I bought a reproduction complete set (all 6 pieces) and they are stored away. I just pulled them out and looked at them and they look great. Are they not reproducing them now? There is a little...
@KernDog. Yes, my 20 ft RV trailer has electric brakes. I believe that most of the RV trailers over 18 ft do come with electric brakes. Tent trailers, some do.

@Project 66 . That's true. The brochure states "features a 6000-pound-capacity load-distributing hitch platform plus...". Tongue weight would be crucial. Our 20 ft RV trailer weighs about 2700 lbs with a tongue weight of about 300 lbs I believe. It would be cool to tow it for a weekend show and...
You can see the hitch on my 74 is bolted to the bumper and the 2nd photo shows it bolted to the thin metal panel behind the bumper which looks to be pulled towards the rear slightly. Were the ones in the tow package bolted or welded to the frame? Photos would be interesting to see. Was the plug...
I realize our cars back then were used for towing. My dad used his 72 or 73 Plymouth (?) Fury Suburban station wagon for towing our tent trailer. I didn't realize the Charger could tow 6000# with the unibody construction. I figured maybe 2500#. I have a 74 Charger, waiting to be restored, that...
I was reading the 74 Charger sales brochure and saw where a 6000# towing capacity package was available. I am surprised that with the right package, these cars could tow something that heavy. I nteresting. I can't recall seeing a 71 to 74 Charger with that package. Where was the 7 pin ATA...
The 73-74 B-bodies are truly under appreciated. I had people say not to waste money on my 74 Charger Rallye 360. Just drive it the way it was with peeling paint, ratty interior and engine compartment. My grandson and I put alot of time in it. In the end, I was in it about $9k. I gave it to him...
I have a 74 Charger I bought for $900 19 years ago, drove it home, and have yet to really investigate the car. It currently has a 360 -4bbl in it with a 727 transmission.
Black interior, vinyl top gone but all the top molding is in the car. No a/c components in engine bay. 8.75 rear differential...
He is correct about that. I bought my 71 Challenger Shaker convertible in 1972 for $1950 because it was a good looking car and cheap. The $1950 I spent in 1972 for the car is only $14,800 in 2023. Can't buy a one year old car today for that. Dodge cars were for those who couldn't afford the...
All of the muscle cars from the 60s and 70s have gotten "slippery" in the last 20 years when they're good deals. I was able to get a 72 Challenger from a very good friend for less than $1000 because he knew I'd get all the parts and get it back on the road. He has a Challenger HC Redeye and was...
Maybe this will give the OPs question a little insight behind the change. It was all I could think of at the moment. The book is The Dodge Story by Thomas A. McPherson. I own a 71 Challenger and a 3rd generation74 Charger and enjoy both.

So I crawled under my other 74 Charger which is waiting its turn to go into my shop. I removed the heat shield and took a photo of the sending unit. I know the 73 and 74 gas tanks are different in that the vent line comes off the top of the tank where there's a big hump on the top. The sending...
