Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

There's been a lot of other people also refer to mm when tatlking about belts. Sounds like you know a hell of a lot more about measurements than I do. I hope I can find the pictures of the cutting heads-people would be able to understand the belt a lot better.

Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

I'm been trying to see where all this top width talk comes from. I had to look up in these old application books to remember the 13/32", 15/32", and the 17/32". When people started throwing the mm in there, I knew that was not correct. When I used to cut these belts, the 13/32" or 13 belts...

Buy a bore scope, at least you can look in all of the cylinders and verify that they are OK? Before you even turn it over.

Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

Like I had stated before, all of the Mopars and GM's from back then used the 13/32" top width belts except for some of your power steering which could have used the 17/32" top width. That's why so many people have problems today-because the belt sidewall is not doing anything if it's out of the...

Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

Sounds good. Years ago, I had a friend that had a 69 SS396 El Camino 4 speed that would throw the alt-fan belt at hi rpm shifts. Everything was lined up perfect, all factory pulleys. Ended up-the alternator was locking up at hi rpm. Got the alt rebuilt and good to go.

Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

So your water pump-fan belt is the one you are having problems with? I have a 13 belt that more than likely will solve your problem. If you say you've had problems with the idler pulley in the past, I also have a solution for that. Give me your address in the PM I sent you and I'll send you this...

Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

The 3/8 were the 13/32" series belts which all Mopars and GM's used back in the day. There are still a very few 13/32" belts made anymore. Somewhere in the late 80's, early 90's all the belt companies phased out the narrow belts replacing them with the 15/32" belts the 15 belts. Most all of...

Anybody have knowledge of Gates industrial belts, need an odd belt...

What is the name and number of the machine? Some of the above post mention Goodyear. Goodyear does not manufacture belts of any kind any more. They sold out to Continental. There might be some NOS Goodyear belts out there yet. Continental uses all of the same part numbers that Goodyear had. I...

I think there is someone in Hemmings that advertises to do so. Pick up an issue. There used to be a lot of old school rebuilding services for about anything.
