    Turndowns and flowmasters will typically resonate as will any muffler with turndowns. Add tailpipes and it'll help a ton! :):)

    Thanks 331. I just heard a 520 cu in Jon Kaase Ford with these MagnaFlow-style mufflers and it was impressive.

    3inch header to 2.25 exhaust to 2.5 inch muffler?

    Dynomax 17748. 20" long body. 2.5" in and out, offset in and center out. Bolt right on. Work great. Perfect muffler when mounted correctly.

    James, You need to fit the 5" by 11" by 21" Magnaflow on it. They sound good, flow great, do a real nice job of toning it down and will not resonate too badly if they mount them correctly. If there is still a 5 by 11 Superturbo, it is even better if it is the long body one.

    Some car guy, if that is an open box inside that junction, I'd be hesitant to use it. I am not sure what the benefits would be, if any. Pypes' X-junctions are much closer to the original Dr. Gas X junctions.

    We tested the Raven and it was uniquely made muffler. I'll see if I can find my old ads for it. They had sort of like a channel through them with perforated walls on both sides of the channels. Sort of loud I recall. Expensive to make I bet.

    Vibrant is a straight through packed muffler with a perforated core. It does not appear to have the center perforated core wrapped with stainless but the entire volume is filled they said.

    Somecar guy, I can tell you they will likely sound very much like MagnaFlow mufflers. They are made very similarly and with a 16" case size they will be sort of rumbly.     I ran them for years as does Dad. Drone is very minimal IF the exhaust is suspended properly. Around 2000 to 2200 rpm you can detect it but way less than most any other mufflers we tested.

    JG, that will be a great choice. The 17748 does everything very well. It flows well, sounds good, and is relatively quiet but has some tone. Be sure they hang it with "as stock of hangers" as you can find. No solid rods welded to the muffler and the brackets. :):)

    I do discuss some of the differences. In fact, one of the cars I featured was a 62 that uses the later pump and clutch retainers and input shaft. And, with the new pump and input shaft, he could use a late converter.
