I need to order new main bearings for my ‘78 440. It’s a street car/car show car and not a race car. Should I use 1/2 or fully grooved bearings? I’ve seen lots of opinions online for each. Motortrend article recommended 1/2 grooved…? Thanks Sonny

Just checked my cylinder bores and the are good (engine only had 4000 miles before wiping a lifter). I want to do a light hone to get the cross hatching back (got new pistons and rings) but not looking to bore them. What grit ball hone should I buy? Sonny

I’m a few weeks away from rebuilding my 440. I’ve purchased 440 source stealth heads, new stock pushrods and stock stamped rockers. I also bought the K6401 cam from summit racing. Will the lift of this cam allow me to keep these stock components (pushrods and rockers)? Sonny

Thanks yes I primed it on the stand.

It did not sit but it took way to long to first fire the engine. I had carb and ignition issues and I felt like it took way to many cranks before I fired it. I know it should fire up and rev quickly for 20-30 minutes. It may have lost all the pre lube by the time I got it cranked.

Update: I pulled out all the lifters and 3 others were not spinning. Thoughts on why this happens?
