Broken valve cover bolt removal is next on my agenda.

I would be hoping for a stretched and broken bolt as it's mild steel and much easier to deal with

Broken valve cover bolt removal is next on my agenda.

are you sure that is a broken drill bit? The raised ridge in the middle also looks like stretched metal. Two very different challenges. If you have a Dremel end grinder, they make small end mill bits like 69bee referred to. Cleaned up, it should be obvious what you are dealing with.

the clicking noise is a concern. I sell the better equipment I buy, so my home stereo is a Kenwood Super Eleven. It's still pretty good. They were never imported, so I use it as people aren't familiar with them. 125 watts per channel running through Altec 9846a speakers, used in theaters...

that's a good turntable and receiver. what is your issue? scratchy noises in the pots of the receiver is dust. Pull the cover and spray away. Disassemble to get at the pots according to your comfort level. It's not that high dollar of a receiver, while still worthy, so be brave. clean...

I bought an old corvette and its 1 of 16

For a short time in the 90s, US states could set speed limits. State Police couldn't adequately enforce speed limits on the "Montanabahn" so the courts rescinded the standard of "reasonable and prudent". I lived an hour from Montana, but didn't have anything worthy of the racer's rodeo, so I...

I bought an old corvette and its 1 of 16

An engineer I know bought one in 1990. If I remember correctly, the sticker price was $50,000, which was a lot at that time. A Stealth R/T was $32,000. So when they inspect it, I assume they're expecting you to take it on the autobahn. Does it get a different inspection than a Volkswagen...

Anyone else despise searching for parts on eBay these days?

Unfortunately, the only thing that's going to change eBay is a class action lawsuit. A case can be made that the buyers who don't wade through all the nonsense don't see the correct part for sale, and that seller loses the sale. Their user agreement says sellers have to go through arbitration...

Anyone else despise searching for parts on eBay these days?

Not to be nosy, but how do you do it? That many purchases of car parts means eBay offered you tens or hundreds of thousands of parts that had nothing to do with what you were looking for. One used to be able to enter "- fits", but that doesn't work for me anymore. Are you toughing it out...

    U-Bolts - Reuse or replace?

don't know about Mopars, but IH u-bolts are "torque to yield", meaning they stretch when brought to proper torque. The factory recommends replacement every time. They also recommend retorquing after use. For extreme use applications, re-use might be risky
