Agree with Ron H. Tire height is more important in a spare than width, if you have a sure grip. Get a spare the same height as the REAR tire. It should work on the front (if its a little skinnier) fine. Edit: it's a SPARE. I'd suggest.a 225 70 or 75, whichever is the same height as your 275. And...

I had never heard this about mismatching rear tire sizes with a sure grip. If this is true, I'm very glad to learn this.

I carry a skinny tire as close as possible to the height of the rear tire. 215/75x15 is only 1/4" shorter than a 275/60. 726 revs/mile vs 721. Take a few pounds out of the 275, and they're the same.

I had that same combo before I changed to a 255/65, on 15 x 8, same B/S. 66 coronet, no issues. Although, 8" wheel is pretty wide for a 225 tire, IMHO.
