Any chance the steering column isn't centered properly causing excess drag? A little drag multiplied by the steering gear ratio makes for a lot of drag when trying to sweep the wheels..

Get the drive wheels off the ground, axle on jack stands.... Get the engine running... Engine 2000 rpm, Clutch pedal depressed, Abruptly stab the brakes... Release then stab again... Well, assuming the brakes work...

And before driving the seal in pack the back side with grease... It keeps the garter spring from popping off...

Yup, 69... 70 wouldn't have a Flasher Switch..... 68 would have vertical ribs rather than grained texture...
