I also had to replace all of the front suspension, all new brake lines, shocks, and front wheel bearing. Basically everything in the photo is now new. Hope to get back on the car soon. But you know happy wife, happy life.
I haven't had much time to work on the GTX, I have been busy trying to get my wives truck back up to ship shape. Anybody that lives in michigan knows what the salt does to the rear doors on a Tahoe. I was able to find a pair out of Alabama that are in great shape just the wrong color. So it was...
The plan is to restore to stock, it won't be numbers matching but not pro touring either. I would like to upgrade the brakes to disc in the front for safety and the original 440 was pulled years ago. It currently has a 426 wedge, which I am trying to get freed up. Any case I will stay with a...
In this photo you can get an idea of the condition of the GTX. I have my work cut out for me, but I am having fun so far.
You can see more photos if you go to the welcome wagon forum and look for hand me down 67 GTX.
This is a photo of the parts car I purchased.
As you can see I have removed the doors and roof, my plan is to use the floor pan and frame rails from this car.
I have removed about 90% of the sound deadening from the underside of the floor pan. So far its seems to be rather solid.
I also plan...
This is a picture of the condition of the car currently. As you can see I have my work cut out for me. If you go to the welcome wagon forum and look for hand me down 67 GTX you can find out more about the car and see more photos.
I started a thread about this car in the new members forum. Just to give a little back on the car, it belonged to my father in law who purchased it back in 1970. After driving the car for a number of years as his daily driver during the summer months he ended up having to drive it year around...
Need suggestions on how to replace rear quarter, I am kind of thinking of doing the rear quarter and wheel well all together instead of separating them and then putting it all back together.
Any ideas or opinions?
I now have a 4 door convertible!
Most of the sound deadening is removed from the underside, boy what a job that is. There is some rust through of the front foot well area of the floor boards so new metal will need to be added. I am thinking I will media blast the floor pan before removing it...
It has been a while since I have updated any info on my GTX project.
I purchased a '67 Bev. II 4 door for parts and along with the car came numerous parts as well. My main goal in buying the car was for the frame rails, rear wheel wells, and hopefully the floorboards.
When I received the car the...
Here are the quarters that I have, I was told they were C2C parts. The area around the wheel opening is a little rough, and they feel a little bit on the thin side. But again they are better than nothing which is what everybody else offers.
I just bought a 67 satellite 4 door for a parts car, he through in the rear quarter panels made by C2C. They not of the quality of AMD, and I have heard that they are made by Sherman (not sure on this), but I figure they are better than nothing. I am thinking I may use one of the quarters from...
