Welcome! By the photos, it looks like a well done engine swap. The wagon also appears to be in excellent condition! An attention getter for sure. Fun project. The 'smiles per mile' will be high, I'm sure.
Inherited a '78 Homelite Super XL back in 1990...20" bar, case, same metal on off switch you mentioned, and ZERO safety features! Yes it's a bit heavier than the plastic bodied saws, and you DO have to 'know the right words' to get it started. I have been to multiple tree parties with it and...

One hole, with the bit 'installed' makes sure you're aligned, front to back... and will hold the hood while you insert bolts. You are correct, the 'witness marks' from the washers will get you to the 'up & down' finish line.
Before loosening any bolt, drill a 1/8" hole between the bolts thru the hinge & hood. When you reinstall the hood, use the back end of the 1/8" drill bit as an 'alignment tool'. It should put you where you need to be.
Testicles are just another organ. 'Mountain oysters' sliced, battered, & fried are great. Beef tongue (lingua) tacos are also quite tasty...the meat is actually very soft. I can also eat my share of gizzards...doesn't matter if it's chicken, turkey, or duck. I'm personally not big on liver...
