67 FSM says to raise vehicle on the outer most portion of the control arm (lca). More than .050" ( a 1/16" is .0625") ball joint should be replaced. FMS is available at mympoar.com. You have to unload ball joints to test.
I bought one from LB enterprises in Taylor Michigan. I emailed him and he said at the time he would have some in a few weeks. He emailed me when he got them in and I had it in about a week. If you talk or email him have your carb numbers to make sure it will fit. Also he only gets them made when...
Some later model carbs. had set screws to limit the mixture screw adjustment. I would remove the plug above the screw and see if there is a set screw or something to limit the removal of the mixture screw. I had to do this on a later model AFB.
Your diagram is of a semi floating rear axle. The picture is of a hub from a full floating rear axle. Some 3/4 and all 1 ton trucks have full floating rear axles.
From my memory from 40+ years ago. Where I worked we had some gas converted to LP refuse trucks. Conversion involved replacing tank and lines. Installing a vaporizer. Replacing carburetor with LP unit. Also had to lock distributor advance and since the engine had valve rotator those were removed...
Most new cars with 195 t stat will run 200. High temp t stats are for emissions. Seal shroud to radiator with foam weatherstrip. Large trucks and construction equip. do it to maximize air flow.
In my years as a government(low bid) fleet mechanic the bean counters would look at Total Cost of Ownership numbers on what they would buy. I would see manufacturers extend oil change intervals to compete against each other. Marked police cars would average 50k miles a year and sold when they...
To me it depends on what you think reliability is. They took a lot more maintenance like ignition and oil changes. 100k to 150k miles was about it until rebuild unless the body was turning into iron oxide. I always wondered why new engines seem to last longer. Is it better oil, metal use, fuel...
Yes. 3 psi. I looked up a Holley switch and it says 5 psi. Wiring should be C- fuel pump, NC- starter relay/solenoid, NO- key run position. I have seen other ones that look like a plastic oil pressure switch for a light but have 3 spade terminals. If my memory is right (CRS) we never had much...
The pressure rating should be part of the part number. In my former life we had those on diesel trucks and equipment before electronic diesels. They were wired so the pump solenoid would be energized when the starter was engaged and when you had oil pressure.
When car manufacturers started to allow play in suspension and steering parts before warrantying them is where it started. In my previous life as a mechanic we had police cars that were still under factory warranty with loose lower ball joints. We would send them to the dealer and they would set...
My easy way to check grounds. I take my 30' test lead hooked to battery neg. and DVOM neg. and touch the pos. lead to the socket of the bulb holder. On DC Volts with light on it should read zero or close to. You can do this on many components. Voltage Drop Tests works with circuit on and loaded.
As velocityss says. Most of the ones I have worked on extend into the venturi and can be pushed out. For new you can look up carb or engine on fleebay and get a china copy. I got one for a zero turn with a 27hp kawasaki and works fine. I know it's a flip of the coin if any good but for $40 what...
A couple of things you want to know before buying one. What do the fans draw when they start and what does the alt. output at an idle or slow speed? This should give you an idea of what you need. Total output at rated high speed means about nothing. I've seen many alt. with high output put the...
