Promax six pack jet plate- look right?

It will depend on how thick the Promax plate is. Looking at the countersunk screws, it is probably quite thick, which would allow for machined passages on the back of it.

I don't see a vac adv unit.... If it did have a VA unit hooked up.....could it be a 318 dist [ opposite rotation ]? in which case revving in neutral would actuate the VA & retard the ign

What's the best way to clean out the freeze plug water jackets on a big block?

Get a small, round, wire brush for an electric drill. Use THAT to clean the freeze plug opening back to clean metal. Use silicon on the NEW plug to seal it

    New Yukon 3rd Member Whining

My understanding: Yukon made two types of gear sets for popular diffs. [1] Was soft material for drag racing that flex slightly & absorb the 'hit'. It did not wear well not as well finished [ two gears lapped together ] [2] Street gears of harder material for long life that were lapped as a set...

Milodon B RB and Hemi Single line oil system.

I never liked the oiling system. The torturous path the oil for the pump inlet, numerous bends & restrictions in the p/up tube then the horrendous, turbulence causing, drilled intersecting holes in the block. I plugged the block. I silver soldered a 3/4" OD, 1/16" wall thickness, stub to the...

72 440 Road Runner. Backfire/Popping only when foot is off gas and coasting.

[1] Fitting on the intake runner. Use that for a vacuum device: brake booster, headlight door, heater vent door. NOT for PCV. Those rubber block off caps are notorious for cracking, causing air leaks. [2]. PCV. Might have been disconnected because it was gummed up. A working PCV will rattle...

    Relay for ignition.

If the coil is designed for use without a bal res, using a bal res with it will result in less spark energy. Silly move.

Rear Main Seal Bad...., I Think!?

You could nip up the oil pan bolts...& get lucky. But my guess is the rear seal or seal holder. When the engine is running, blowby increases pressure in the crankcase & helps find ' bad' seals.

Cooling issues 69 RR 440 at wits end!

Because it heats up so quickly, I would be checking for a blown/leaking head gasket.....especially on a newly re-built engine.

    Relay for ignition.

The relay is a good idea. If the ign coil is an E core, it will draw more current. To get the best use of the relay, connect one contact to the battery [+] terminal or alt post with a 10 amp inline fuse. Connect the other relay contact to the module/coil [+]. This will ensure that your ign...
