That's the way to do it... Get it all in one go!
That's how I did mine just recently. I didn't have a lift though... I used my rotisserie for the lifting and lowering. A little more tedious perhaps, but it got the job done just the same.
@copper67sat made a good choice on pistons. I went with a Lunati cam, right under 500 lift. My pistons are stock HP as my motor didn't need bored. They are. 016 in the hole. My heads are 516's and didn't need guides, but I had 1.74 exhaust valves installed with hardened seats and mild port...
I have the heat blocked off to the intake on my 440 with a 1/8 to 1/4 hole for the exhaust valve reversion I don't think it is letting much heat in. sometimes the car will just chirp the tires and not pull very hard and other times it will go sideways and push you back in the seat running the...
I just read something that the radiator hose wire was a factory piece due to the assembly process using vacuum to do the initial fill of coolant on the assembly line. It was apparently not needed to prevent collapse during operation because the radiator cap should have the system under pressure...
No....smooth surfaces are needed or the packing will be destroyed. We used several rings of packing with a lantern ring somewhere in the center to allow coolant/lubrication to enter the packing gland. In many cases, the product that the pump was pumping usually had a line from the discharge to...
As an update to the original hightway temp topic, I finally got the chance to put a FlowKooler 180 degree high flow thermostat in to replace the parts store replacement I had installed. Unfortunately the same issue persists. It runs cool at idle and around town as long as I keep it under 50mph...
Unfortunately our car is still in the body and paint process and will be for awhile, so I unfortunately do not have any pictures for you… and ours were so bad we threw them out as well, so I am wondering where to get new ones. Also, @Don Frelier, @Greg Ducato, @440 4 speed, or @RedBeard could...
My opinion only!
You haven't got enough radiator. I wouldn't put a 22 in front of any big block.
I have a 28" big block cordoba high efficiency in my 440 savoy,(with the modified cordoba shroud) and a 19x31 big block dually radiator in my Opel.
For a hotrod (not an original car) I tend to use...
I bought directly from 440 source. They were assembled heads. Car runs much better. The engine had what were presumably the factory steel shim type gaskets. Between leaky valve seals and presumably bad valve sealing the car did not want to idle very well with the original heads. Its much...
