In another life, I was into 30's cars, and was able to identify most of them. Just a general interest in all of them. I enjoy watching old movies and trying to identify the cars in them. It is nice to spot a classic big Packard or Duesenberg. The weirdest I spotted was a 1940 Ford station wagon...
Whose A/M rad ? I've had some that were useless. On one of my cars I have a Wizard which fits perfectly and the stock shroud fits perfectly. If you desire OEM appearance, spend the $$$ and go Glen-ray. What is your timing set at ? You should have a shroud with the fan halfway into it.
64-65 b-body under column trim. Has two of the original screws, has a little chalking on one side, that shouldn't be seen once installed. Has some light scratches that should polish out. It hasn't been cleaned, fresh out of the car. Part# 2492139. $20 plus shipping from 40165. Thanks
to toss over some things - is the system burped? How is the water pump? View how it is flowing with cap open. Something you do when burping the system. Clutch fan should be better than not, what is the distance of the fan from radiator? Is your motor built up? Bored out?
I'm totally aware of the difference between solder alloys, as I use to work for a company that made solder.....albeit tin/lead based or silver alloy solders and the differences between types. Fluxes are important, depending on alloy and methodology but some alloys are furnace brazed under inert...
I worked at Shop Rite in NJ also. Did not get them at the store, but I have several Cardboard Cans of "Quaker Maid" oil, on the shelf.
Also have several plastic bottles of the GM EOS. I use it as an additive for breaking in a new engine.
I have had to install a home made spring in my lower radiator hose to keep it from sucking shut.
Ebay 26" alum radiator, clutch fan, no shroud, 180 thermostat with 1/8" relief hole.
Steady 180 degees in the heat.
Do not overfill radiator
If you can get a ready to run set of later heads,906/346/452, that don't need redoing then you can save money there. Maybe a set of valve springs and go.Otherwise 440 source or sidewinder heads will be far ahead in HP and have a smaller combustion chamber for easier compression AND less prone to...
...steel shim head gasket and freshened 516’s should put CR near 10:1. And yield near .040 quench. With them specs you can run camshaft with 235-40* @.050 duration keep the LSA in the wider side like 114*. A dual plane such as Performer RPM. I would expect to be 400hp easily. build. Oh stay...
So i know a lot of guys have posted similar issues so bear with me....
Data:
22" aftermarket 3 core radiator
New clutch on fan
No shroud ( can't get anything to fit rad)
Put 3000 cfm pusher fan on front of radiator
Removed tranny lines and put new cooler away from rad
Tried all diff thermostats...
Charlie, that is a rather goofy IMO link:
"The Castrol brake fluid also has a high viscosity, which means it won’t compress under pressure."
Not sure that claim is accurate regarding viscosity.
It also claims water and soap is alternative emergency alternative for BF, I guess so is urine?
...exterior, yesterday and today. I had to hide a lot of the spoilage that showed up upon clean up, so I buried, and covered it, on that Hot W/E, 95*+, before Carlisle, with my old standbys. We also set the fence that needed to be done, and cased the windows that were really needing some trim...
I was so focused on the wiper switch I didn't even look at the heater control! I'll get a chance to have a look maybe later today. Thanks a ton Nacho-RT74 for the help.
I couldn’t find anything that I wanted in a reasonable distance away so I just ordered all new parts from Doctor Diff. Just want my car back on the road.
