I see this edge is knocked off on the block of some of 400s I see online. Mine is in the same spot only larger. Is this common or something to be concerned about?
I didn't find very many off-the-shelf piston choices for a .030 over 383. It was basically either low compression Silv-O-Lites like what was in it or the Speed Pros.

Unscrew the plate, hammer the concave hole flatter, reinstall.
You minght not be able to screw the 3 attaching screws all the way after if you overdo it.
If you have a vacuum leak, spraying something flammable at it will make the engine rpm increase right away. May even change the sound of the leak.....if that's what you have.
But see, you gave your 22 every chance to succeed! A shroud, a big clutch fan, and a great water pump. And a thousand dollar radiator.
OP needs a shroud, can't find one for his aftermarket radiator. I'd find a bigger radiator that he CAN get a shroud for.
Hold the splash shield up against the front fender frame behind the headlight area. The gasket side will follow the contour of the inner side of the fender. Then the holes in the shield will line up where the spring nuts should be.
I found my wiper arms. They never had blades on them. They are Anco made in the USA. Were these the originals? Also what type/size of wipers do I need for these? They look like some type of press fit since there are no holes or barbs etc on the end.
I do not have a picture of the correct one. Switching from a 4-speed back to an auto. I have an aftermarket tube and stick from the company that built my trans, but does not fit. Going to call them tomorrow and see if we can work something out. They some how have shipped the wrong one. I...
