    How is the oil pressure as the engine warms up? It sounds like a spun bearing, squealing as the oil pressure drops. Just a guess without hearing it.

    If you have a nicely painted engine and don't want to be spraying carb cleaner, a small propane torch, unlit of course, will get the same results.

    I many cases at 70mph+ the fan becomes an obstruction for optimum air flow and why they began adding shroud flaps to move more air at higher speeds.

    I had a Grand Cherokee once that just quit running one day. I found one piston had a hole burned right through the top of it. Never understood what could have caused that.

    Maybe, but I did not see any mention by the OP regadring the ET Street Rs. The Rs have a nylon belted sidewall, and steel in the tread surface, according to their tech folks. The Rs sidewall will wrinkle. I just drove 500 miles on my Rs last weekend.
