The reason people remove the over center spring is with a diaphragm pressure plate it taks so much less effort to release the clutch that the over center spring can cause the pedal to remain on the floor... Or at least to not fully engage...
It dosent vacuum. It's glue...stuck to the floor..originally installed to keep the Jute padding and carpet in place during interior assembly. So it's kinda sticky..and stinky. Plus the Killmat won't stick to it well. So I need to clean it up.
You are wrong... The very name of the spring should tell you that it does by the design of the mechanism..
Disconnect the linkage, depending on where it is in it's travel the pedal is pulled either to the floor assisting in depressing the clutch or typically in the upper 2" or so of travel it...
Done a number of my cars.
Buy the good pliers and rings.
A few things I learned:
I bought the straight and 90 degree pliers, never used the 90.
If the old covers have the metal rod inserts save and reuse in the new covers.
