...Not like Leno's, but still...
As far as the video goes, some experienced people who have commented say that there is both fact and fiction in it.
My question is simple:
Evan's waterless, but if not, what? If I use anything but a waterless coolant, I will use a bottle of WaterWetter in the mix.
...going to pull the coolant drain plugs on the block, get out the rest of the tap water and fill it with distilled water. Drive it and make sure it has no leaks. When all is good drain the radiator and fill with a gallon of straight coolant, bottle of WaterWetter or the like. And it should be...
Update,
Carlisle trip went off without a hitch. It did rise to about 3/4 gauge reading while I was sitting in hot traffic waiting to get into the grounds. Slepr1 and other's, thank you! I did add the water-wetter. The only other thing I did was add an overflow container. I got a universal one...
You're putting a lot of work into that project. If you're willing to try another test then remove the electric fans from the car and take it for a drive on the freeway. Don't just unplug them, physically remove the fans and see how it works. My guess is that something about the fans is blocking...
I had cooling problems with my re-done 318 with the stock radiator and added a 7-blade, oem shroud, and then read up about how the mix of coolant to anti-freeze ratio and motors oils impact temperature. With the rebuild, I needed a high zinc oil and what I could get off the shelf was 20/50w...
...water ratio? Or was the ratio 30-70%? You state your engine runs cooler now.....how much cooler....what was it b4 you changed it. A waterwetter is an ionic surfactant, which brakes the surface tension of the coolant providing "better" contact with the metallics of the engine and "better"...
...media the more heat is exchanged. Its not a total function of coolant type (water, propylene glycol, ethylene glycol, Evans coolant, waterwetter surfactants, etc) but system pressure, system circulating velocities and quantities (gallons per minute), and heat exchanger surface area. The...
Restoration Update: Power Steering Pump
Just painted it while I had it off to replace a pressure hose that had no less than 3 pinhole leaks, one of which was splashing onto the exhaust manifold. The hose I had made locally, using the old connections on each end (haven't tested it all back...
KD,
Out of curiosity, what were your results of using a "water wetter", like the b4 and after coolant temps using the material, also ambient air temps and how and where you were driving the car. The only true comparison is by quantifying your results. To paraphrase an expression..."enquiring...
Interesting as I have a buddy who swears by some anti-freeze his shop's truck fleet uses can't recall it offhand; it's orange colored and runs some 25 bucks a gallon (not the GM stuff). Someone put me on to reducing the ratio of anti freeze to thwart an over heating problem and this seemed to...
...pan and cooler will help
you can run half inch trans cooler lines to a 100 plate and fin cooler with half inch in and out and eliminate the heat in the in-radiator trans cooler (depending on where your are)
Redline makes waterwetter
how many lb thermostat
are you boiling over- loosing coolant?
so.. just hit the 500 mile mark on the new 440. runs great, runs cool(195 )around town,on open road if i run 60 mph or over for 10- 15 miles, then heats up to - 205 - 207 area. doesnt matter if ac is on or not, can back it down to 2700/2800 rpms and it drops back to 195. at 60 mph shows 3100...
