Can't agree more. "We" went through the "waterless" nonsense and then waterwetter next in the liquid cooled aircraft world 20 or so years ago. Smoke and mirrors and you're screwed when you need to top the system away from home.
Stock cooling systems x 6.... they all open the 180f stat and...
I didn't say it didn't work. And would help a brass radiator system as well as an aluminum one.
I just use another product.
If you want a more scientific test, here's one: https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/0703-turp-cooling-system-additives/
The coolest running liquid is water + waterwetter, but you can't use that if it freezes where you are, and it has no corrosion prevention.
I run 50/50 water and antifreeze w/WaterWetter. ALWAYS I run waterwetter.
Your initial statement:
"Just wondering what is the opinion on.hi flow water pumps? Searching the posts on here, seems there is some debate that hi flow doesn't always mean cooler temps?" Is totally incorrect.....on the subject of thermodynamics (heat transfer with regard to volume...
...went down that road years ago. Had Bob build me a $700.00 radiator. Added a thermo fan and shroud and squandered more money with the waterwetter BS and a BeCool water pump when my whole problem with over heating in heavy traffic was all caused by the March pulley serpentine set up I thought...
My bad on the valve. And never had any issues with keeping the engine cool even on 100 degree days stuck in traffic with the AC on. However, I do run a water pump lubricant and rust inhibitor in the rad. Never ever run plain water. Hey, we hardly ever get a hard freeze here and when we do, it...
I run a single 3800 cfm fan
on an aluminum 2 core rad.
After the 440 was broke in,
I rarely see temps past 190
in stop and go at ambient
air temps around 100.
There's 1000's out there that
run similar set-ups with no
issues.
In the OP'S case, I would
check for restricted flow,
weak antifreeze...
So, a 15 deg difference in
running temps is not proof
enough that it works? That
was the OP's question.
The freezing protection w/
antifreeze as well as it's
lubricating properties are not
affected by the WaterWetter
product, where diluted with
water does inhibit rust
protection.
...to use this and go for a drive then do it again. Almost finished sealing front of radiator. Bottom hose now has spring. New coolant and waterwetter. I also think I’ve found my oil leak I’ve been trying to locate since first start. It’s the valley cover. But have you ever seen one that is...
Had done research about engine temps by reducing (not eliminating) the anti-freeze mix. I’ve run around 30% for the last few years with wetter; though my car is in a heated garage. Straight water isn’t a good idea as it can rust up the engine innards.
...the mountain
even in 105*+ heat here
Not for everyone
Any 1 thing doesn't work for everyone
don't knock it if you haven't ever used or even tried them...
if your **** is stock, fine use the OE stock stuff...
I've had great results using a (Royal Purple, Purple Ice)
waterwetter & distilled...
I wonder if distilled water weighs more or less compared to straight water. LOL. Now you've got me curious as to this question which is a very valid point. I run distilled water with a bottle of Wetter for the summer months. Fluids and their compositions and and consistency's do differ in...
From @autoxcuda link.
"But over the years we've become accustomed to using cooling system wetting agents, as they've been proven to work almost every time."
Don't know your particular
set-up but maybe we here
can help if you've been trying
to lower your cooling temps?
Slightly...is a relative...
Yeah, the stock car racing guys use distilled water because of its ability to sustain it self under seemingly endless grueling conditions. Painting the blocks black also helped in extracting inner heat out into the elements. Voodoo stuff
50/50 is the only way to go unless you're in Antarctica. WaterWetter I do use. Did it make a difference? I think it did but I've upgraded so many bits of the cooling system I can't say 100%.
