Do you know how much it weighs?
I know they are light.
I pushed my 4 door parts car around on dollies all by myself.
I could almost spin it around from one end.
Very interested to see how it runs.
...but I did have a friend help me get the ramps out of the trailer. I put it together using my floor jacks, old t-bar for leverage, moving dollies and grunt. I asked the friend to help me assemble some of it but he didn't show. Was not about to pay $1600 to assemble when I paid $500 to disassemble.
...there. I took some cues and started making my own. First up, I took a spare K member and a bare 440 block.
Then I took a couple of steel dollies and welded some 2 x 3 channel....
I noticed that the bottom of the K member had holes in it, not sure of their purpose originally. I decided...
i honesty dont know what it weighs, was bought from a fellow member here by my best friend, and i purchased form his estate, stock curb weight is 3000 lbs, converted to a 360 small block with a ford 9 inch rear, so i would think 3500 lbs +/-
My friend and I assembled the Bendpack HD9W in a day. The runways were the most difficult to move around. We put them on harbor freight wheel dollies making it easier to roll them around. I think we also used a engine hoist to get under the lift to run the cables to the posts?
...shop is on wheels of some sort..... going on 40 years experience, and somewhat cocky; I was recently humbled.
I had a car on jackstands with dollies underneath, it worked great until it didn't; one of the "rigs" folded under and I dropped the car. it landed on a front rotor, and the opposite...
...would like the ability to drag / agility course the car. Thank you much for the advise on using the stock suspension(s) and upgrading. Don't want to waste the money if I can get the same performance with upgrades. I will begin a digital scrapbook once the car is on the dollies and post to the...
Now that my trailer is empty and could find the dollies I made for the lift, here are some shots of them. 1x2 090+ wall tube, solid material inside at the hinge points for the bolts. I also rosette welded them to the tubes so there is better strength in the assemblies. The only thing I re-used...
I think there would be the potential for the car to slide off. As the dollies are made for a tire to rest in, you'd have to set it up: dollie, wood block, jack-stand, wood block (unless you want to rest your car directly on the jack-stand). A WORD OF CAUTION!!! When I dropped the front...
Dollies are great (I have a used Demco that I got for like $400) for emergency, local stuff. I love the fact that I can tow it with just about anything since they don't weigh anything significant. My Demco already has a lock pin for the pivot, so I can lock it at will (or forget to unlock it...
Hey, KD.
Bad news on your engine. It's frustrating to
say the least.
Your design for your engine stand is good
but I might suggest 6 gussets be added.
Two on each side from the bottom tube
to the base plate centered on the uprites.
plus 2 from the uprites to the bottom tube.
The mechanical...
...done here.
Floor pan epoxy primer applied to seal up the surface.
Engine compartment in epoxy primer. Ready for paint.
Painting completed.
K frame and suspension to be removed next.
Some scrap angle iron and casters to build some simple dollies to move car around the shop without...
...anyone or if he has did not explain the actual situation well enough.
I can still get the car but I am going to have to break in and use dollies on the front tires to move it around which I would rather not do.
Anyone from CA got any insight to this situation, I am trying to determine...
How tall are your dollies with the wheels, and do the front or back have a cross bar, and would you have them higher or lower than yours, given the choice?
Making my own. Nice progress on your project, I’m sure it’s going to come out amazing!
People think they are heavier than they are...I have seen a lot of different weights. Being Unibody with a small block with aluminum heads heads and stuff I’m guessing about 3300-3500#. They are very narrow...not big cars. Al though the steel was more dense back then.
...to protect the new windshields while in their boxes. I'll use the bubble stuff to give my doors some further protection while they are on the dollies. The foam will get used for padding/protection somewhere else. When I used to work at the body shop some years ago, Ford/Toyota and some others...
...its Draconian BS laws as you do, but in reality you ain't playing fair. And when I go to the shows, I see stacks and stacks of ammo in box dollies or what have you being taken out to the parking lot and being loaded into vehicles with nothing but Commiefornia plates. Please at least try and...
