Looking at the ICON pistons now and noticed that they are designed for Indy, Edelbrock, and OE style heads. Seems like a good starting point.
Im making notes of all of this to bring to the engine shop and get their recommendations as well. They're doing the cleaning, inspection, and...
Holy smokes, that was a lot of information to process. Thank you to everyone who has replied so far!
To answer a couple of the questions so far:
Yes, the block will be decked, but I don't know the final number they'll need to shave off just yet.
The heads I'm looking at, assuming they'll ever...
I hope that I'm not duplicating a previous question, but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for on the forums.
The engine shop called me today and said the '69 383 is rebuildable, but they will need to bore it 40 over and deck it. No surprise there, as it was locked up when I get the...
Engine is original, transmission is not. For that reason my plan/hope is to rebuild the 383 and pair it with a SilverStone 5-speed. I don't want to go full restomod, but a couple of modern touches will be nice IMO.

I've always wanted to do a black-on-black build, but considering this one is numbers matching, I may have to go with the original turquoise with white interior and white vinyl top. I'm sure I have plenty of time to make that decision
I took delivery on Friday of my Q5 '69 Charger. Happy to report that it's really solid and not missing much, but still needs a ton of TLC. Little man is stoked about working on it, but my wife says I can't until our bathroom renovation is done. So until that time, here are a few day 1 photos.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. She's rough, but appears solid. Some panels have already been replaced as a couple of you mentioned, and there were also repairs around the rear window and sails.
'69 Charger has always been a dream of mine, so I'm looking forward to the work and making...
I don't know.... Always envisioned black-on-black, but seeing as so much of the car is matching, I'm considering the original turquoise and white combo!
