yea I should do that, lol
I am excited about this old car... I want to get it running soon. The engine sounded pretty good when it did run, hopeing the trans is ok too.
ok I called ole ralph back and he said to ground the black terminal on the bottom of the solenoid to the chassis...
did that and it still will not spin over with key/ignition turned to start position.
ran out of day light, will try again tomorrow.
ok, a local guy told me to check the YELLOW wire to see if it has 12 volts on it when I am turning the key to the start position.... it does!
he also said the black wire coming off the solenoid is going to the neutral safety switch on the trans and that if I pull it off and ground it....it...
thanks I found a picture of the Neutral Safety switch today, which I plan to jump out just to see if that is the problem.
cant wait to get this thing running, driving.. should be fun....
ok I have looked thru the wiring schematic A and B for the 72 Satellite, but I do not seem to be able to find the Neurtral Safefy wiring colors or switch, any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
thanks guys....
I am thinking neutral safety switch also, as the previous owner replaced the ignition switch and that def attaches to the neutral safety switch in the column. I bet he didn't even try to hook it up, may have to go around it.
I would go 6.1
although it will be a huge undertaking, once done you can get parts just about anywhere locally and plus you could do a cool write up for the rest of us on here :)
pros
new model engine, and if you went with the engine trans, EFI deal, you would have the 6 speed overdrive (which...
ok so now I have started digging into this project and I know this car will fire up with a 12V wire from my battery to my + side of my coil, and rednecking it across the two terminals on the solenoid, however it still will not spin the starter with the ignition key being turned. (it may have...
ok today I put on a missing coil wire from the dist. still would not crank...
ran 12 volt wire straight from battery to coil + and still would not crank...
ah...now I remember it has points on this old model, lol filed the points and poured gas straight into the 1V carb and it fires off.
runs...
I sure can, it may be Saturday before I get them posted up, but I def can hook u up with pictures..
I may need the same somewhere down the road on other items, so I am glad to be able to do my part.
I did a pretty good walk down of the car tonight after it was delivered today. I am stoked at...
keep us posted, I am about to embark on the same adventure...
picked up a 72 satellite with 318 1b carb, and I want to get it running/driving cheaply
I def want to put a 4 V edelbrock intake and new carb on it.
free flowing exhaust etc.. and get it rolling and braking correctly.
she was 27 years ago lol
my first thought's were to buy the car for the engine and trans for my daughters 69 charger...
however I am thinking this would make a great daily driver for myself...
so I am seriously thinking of fixing it up and driving it....I will sell it for around $2400 if...
best bang for the buck
Gears
intake/carb
roller rockers
shorty headers
free flowing exhaust with x or h pipe
good tune up, bump total timing...
lots of free horsepower by making sure you have everything tuned :)
I found and bought a 72 satellite yesterday that was my third grade teachers car when I was in school. The cool part is my wife was born that year lol....
hope to post a few pics later.
thanks
