Ok so to a rookie engine builder.... How do I know if the rod is put on the piston correctly? The machine shop installed the piston on the rods so I'm hoping they put them on correctly. Thanks,
So I'm finally getting around to putting my 440 together but I've came across another snag. I assume the arrow on the piston tells me to point it towards the front of the engine but in doing so the writing on the piston would be upside down. Might just be my ocd kicking in but seems odd to me...
Yea I had a set of twisted wedge heads on a fox several years ago ad really like them BUT the were on a car I actually drag raced where this one is just to crusie around in. Don't you have to change the rocker arms on the TF heads on the 440?
It is an auto but as for the rest of it I'll basically be replacing all of it. Not sure on weight (its a factory car) or gear ratio that's in the rear end. Is there a benifit to long tubes or equal length on the 440s?
I did start tearing into the motor last night and I have 6 pistons left to remove. Currently the crank is stuck so I have the bottom end soaking in oil the to try to help free up. It is a 2 bolt main so how strong is the stock block?
What cam would you recommend as a good street cam? I know you said it depends on the power I'm looking to make but I don't have a set number I'm going for. I'm looking a doing a possible H/C/I build that I want to be reliable.
Back at you sir, but this has bee a project over the past 13 yrs. Life has happened several time and it has just sit most of the time. So where I'm not in a big hurry I am ready to drive it.
I assume 3k is unavailable? The thing is I'm not trying to build a 10 sec car. I know I can't afford too and even if I wanted to it would be with something drastically lighter. That being said... I do want a reliable car that sounds great, it's sole purpose will be to use as a weekend car and...
So I guess you wouldn't recommend it? Is it just to loud? To hard to crank when it's cold? What's the pros and cons? I've only watched a video on it and liked how it sounded.
Assuming the bottom end is good it will just get a hone, new pistons, gaskets and seals. Looking at the Mutha Thumpr cam (purely for sound) outside of that my research is just now starting on BB motors. Realistically I'd like to keep the motor under 3k from carb to oil pan.
Good to know guys, can I use the booster off of the new Yorker or? Sorry for the stupid questions but I've never mixed parts from other vehicles before.
I know there's some other threads about these but I didn't want to hijack their thread but anyways.... I'm currently pulling a 440 to build for my Satellite and rather than put a few hundred in my stock heads I was looking at the Stealth heads for $1,000 shipped. Are thy worth the money or...
That's some good information, if I pull the 440 from the car I just bout and the motor is crap I'll certainly post/pm you for some moe info. As for how far not quite sure but a H/C/I is definitely in the future but I don't know about spraying it or adding a turbo. Currently just wanting to get...
Yeah that's a lot of Greek to me but I have a couple of friends that could help me understand it. Unfortunately they're both die hard Ford and the other Chevy guys so I can't pick their brains on Mopar stuff.
Assuming you're versed in classic mopars, do these look like a b body set up? I have had them stored away for years and don't remember what they were pulled off of. Thanks,
So I have what I'm fairly certain is an 8 1/4 rear end stored away that come out of a b body. Should it be fine paired with a mild 440 or bite the bullet at upgrade to a 8 3/4? Thanks,
