How airtight were b-bodies when new?

"How airtight were b-bodies when new?" asks the OP. Well, I worked on these cars when they WERE new and almost new. It seems every Mopar that came into the garage had a symptom of wind noise... or a leak... or a rattle... if it were a 70-older car. Those symptoms were nowhere near as prevalent...

Detroit Diesels are insanely screaming loud at full song but also very powerful. Oliver had several models with them. Man that sucks, Golden Jubilees are great tractors like all the older tractors were and regardless of make still unbeatable solid machines to this day just like our Mopars !

How airtight were b-bodies when new?

From my personal experience back in the day, the b bodies up to 70 were not very good air, water, or rattles. The restyle in 71 was a dramatic improvement.

    Rear view mirror post

All good suggestions. Gonna tinker with it and report back. So far placed a thin piece of cardboard between plate and ball. Holding well. Wanted to try that before “love tapping” the plate fir tighter fit.

    How's your view ?

Hanging out at Homes Beach on Anna Maria Island, FL I am luck that our family owns some properties here. Also unlucky the last hurricane dumped 6 ft. of sand in the living room on a few units. Nothing a Skid Steer couldn't handle. They are all now completely rebuilt as of this week and I plan...

    So who's into tractors

Yeah that picture was taken right when we took it off the bottle jack so we could slide the front frame / wheels in position. I was sweating that maneuver myself just like when we split the tractor for the first time. It was not as bad as I thought it would be having never done it before.
