    Excessive brake pedal travel

I have quite a bit of pedal travel, but the Tukvan stops. All new bits. I will watch this thread for ideas. Originally I thought bleeding was the issue. I also heard the master cylinder can fail. That is also new.

How airtight were b-bodies when new?

Drive anything a few miles on a gravel road, and see how much dust is inside. We went about 1200 miles on gravel, so got a lot of dust. We leak more now than when new, but I bet the Tukvan leaked from day one. Also there is the hardened and congealed dust under the floor and in the running gear...

    Cruise

They ran the track, facing West. They used to go facing East. Is this the same SIR, Seattle International Raceway, that has the road race track attached to it? Would be an anti clockwise track. I think Kent is the local town. Have not been for a few years.

    They can’t be serious.

I have half an acre and a new house, 800 steps from the ocean, a 41 Ford tractor, a 77 Dodge camper van, and a few bikes. All that is legit. The downside, the pub 800 steps away, burned down and has not been rebuilt. The travel lift was deemed not safe. So I have to go about twenty miles to get...

    So who's into tractors

    a 20 dollar deposit.......

I paid $175 for my 59 Plymouth Fury. $175 for a 53 GMC panel van. $175 for a 53 Chev with a 6 cylinder. All those in 67, and 69. I paid $00 for my 77 Dodge camper van, but managed to spend about $15,000 over the last three years. One tyre is more money than what a vehicle cost a few years ago.

    Evan’s waterless coolant

I am not fond of gauges that say good bad or indifferent. My gauge tells me the temperature in numbers. Most of the time it shows 180, which is where the thermostat opens. Up a hill, or when more work is being done from the engine, it might go to 190. We went to the Arctic ocean with the rad...

Whats up with Detroit Muscle Technologies / Mega kit

We will probably need a cooling system in the Tukvan, when we drive South. We do have opening air scoops at ankle level, both sides. Is there a simple 12 volt air cooling system. We have 12 volt E power, and solar panels, separate from the engine starting battery.

What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

I spent an extra day on the mainland wasting time. But I did do a search for lowering links for my Triumph motorcycle. And I sent a msg to my local gold club, to tell them the beer they serve, is awful.

David Vizard, 100 MPG Carbs, and Me

Meanwhile I will stick with Einstein who said “ To put mass in motion requires energy, to change the speed of mass once in motion, requires energy. The amount of energy is in proportion to the mass “ We all know this as heavier things are harder to move. Motorcycles suffer from wind resistance...

    318 Cam Suggestions

I asked Edelbrock what to use, and they suggested a Performer, which is the same name they call a lot of things. I have the same carb but with a manual choke, same manifold. Electronic ignition. No mods to the stock exhaust until it fails. If the stock cam has the fibre gears, I suggest removing...

I don't have to run PREMIUM fuel anymore !

I have about 160 pounds of pressure in my 318, so I use 89 octane. Had to put 89 in my bike a week ago, and it ran quite sluggish, and sounded bad. Back with 91 and Bluzu is happy again. I think compression is about 10.5. Fuel injected.

Who has dared to drive across country in a classic Mopar?

Laundry places, and most other services are readily available using a modern phone. Or just cruise the main street. We are often in places we have never been before. I would caution about using google maps to navigate. You need real paper maps. Recently we met folks trying to get the West Coast...

    Happy birthday Unkle Krusty

BD decision has been made. Wednesday. Shirley and I will go to down town Vancouver BC. Do a kind of pub crawl. Later, starting at 1700, we will go to the local A&W, where the hot rod guys meet. There is bound to be some Mopar vehicles, possibly some guys from this site. Otherwise we have just...

David Vizard, 100 MPG Carbs, and Me

I think if you ride an SL125 Honda motorcycle at 30 mph, you will get 100 mpg. Otherwise you will get to learn about wind drag, and horsepower used. At 14mpg, imperial, we are cheaper than motel rooms for the Tukvan. We can also have the fridge running, with beer in side. When I had my 53...

Finding top dead center with a 9/16 wrench

The distributor rotor, and the crank wheel, go clockwise on my 318. I had checked TDC with a dial gauge, to determine that the crank wheel marks were correct.Heads were off for the dial gauge check.

Who has dared to drive across country in a classic Mopar?

The pic at left, is of the Tukvan next to the Arctic Ocean sign. About 1000 miles of the road is gravel, some of it shale rock. Small tyres and rims get destroyed. We use ten ply tyres. The suspension gets a work out. Shocks get their last ride. Since that trip, I have added an extra rear leaf...

    Happy birthday Unkle Krusty

Thank you all. It has been a long time since I played rugby for Suburbs. Started in the 15B, which is a long way from the 1st division. Birthday here in BC is Wednesday. I will be 79. I am on the mainland, for a three day break from chores on my Island. A WA US motorcycle rider Steve Schaefer...

i put new tyres on my bike. And visited my boat, getting it ready to haul out. In between I am taking a three day break for my BD.

Finding top dead center with a 9/16 wrench

My crank wheel has the extra marks. Number 1 is a larger mark, and goes right across the wheel. The other marks go half way across, and are 90 degrees apart. I made a mark on the engine, that I line up the other marls with.
