'71 road runner 383 purple cam? - how can I find the model/specs with distributor removed?

Good evening tribe: I'm replacing my worn out distributor with one from Halifaxhops (thanks for the referrals, we spoke this morning) and wondering what type of “purple” cam I have as seen by looking down the hole with the distributor removed. Please see picture below, you can see a purple gob...

    Newer cars are stupid.

I think I read something a while ago about Cadillac offering an optional hologram that would go across the bottom of the windshield if something (like a deer) was detected by the vehicle's sensors, I'm not sure. Something like that would be a good idea from my point of view. I am all for safety.

    Newer cars are stupid.

I remember in the early 90s, Oldsmobiles had an early version of a "Heads up display" where gauge functions were projected to the inside of the windshield right in the driver's line of sight. I thought it was cool but the general public did not embrace it.

    Newer cars are stupid.

The fact that your eyes have leave the road to perform even small functions is just plain dangerous & stupid! I think that all these zipperheads who not only came up with this crap, but also those who approved it should be castrated so they can't reproduce! I am glad I am getting old; this has...

The Elephant In The Room: unloading the load from a B-body.

It was a thin gauge stainless piece that wasn't fairing well under crash to earth wheel stands. The '65 10/15 cars were much too light at 2800 to 3000 Lbs each. That with a hungry Hemi made for some frequent flyer miles. I mean, a factory full gauge steel unit would have cracked and bent...

    Tail light socket replacement

i’ve spent days in the auto parts stores and online which is why I’m posting here where I thought I might find a little help.
