One of the things I did on my 440 RR was put some screen mesh material in the hood inserts that act as vents to let hot air out and relieve the static pressure in the engine bay, which allows better air flow through the radiator. Painted them red, they look like air grabber inserts.

In my case it seems to be a hearty no. I have a 600 CFM Edelbrock on my mild cam 8-1 compression 440.
It runs great on regular pump gas, but gets 11 mpg. Thinking I need at least 800 cfm.

Making good progress, frame rail ends blasted, primed and tacked on, stiffened it up nice attaching the trunk floor with a bunch of clecos and some screws drilled up through the bottom to mark all the flanges.
