    1963 Polara Transmission Problems

My 60 Dart push button trans does not have a park gear. I noticed when I rev the engine in neutral, it seems to always act like it wants to go forward. I always wondered if it was not properly adjusted. Probably just the nature of it without the park gear.

WE BURIED OLD MR. BOBCAT TODAY

Bobcat's description reminded me of a big Yellow Tom that roamed in my neighborhood years ago. He was a fat old guy named Dicky. He was friendly to everyone that didn't challenge him. My buddy was visiting one day with his Doberman and Dicky was walking through my back yard. My buddy opened the...

    1963 Polara Transmission Problems

Wow! New one on me for sure. Sorry about your injuries. I imagine you are still dealing with the after effects. Any idea how the tail shaft housing got broken?

A Not So Easy Oil Change?

I believe you will be dropping the oil pan. At least you got the plug and oil out. I had that happen on my daughter's Grand Cherokee a couple years ago. The nut inside the oil pan was sweat welded at the factory but came loose. I was not able to get the plug out so drilled a hole through the...

Any later model Chrysler 300 owners on here ?

I bought my 300C new in 2005. It has served me well for 20 years and I expect it to last the rest of my life. It averages around 18 mpg. It has all the bells and whistles I need. I don't let it idle for any length of time and change the Mobil one oil at 5000 mile intervals and have never heard a...

    What is my ignition problem?

I am betting on the bulkhead connections going thru the firewall giving you some intermittent loss of continuity. Usually when a coil or the CPU fails it shuts down immediately.

    Orange ignition module

I'm not sure if anyone reading this thread is still concerned with the ECU failures but from my experience, the biggest problem I found with them is the lack of a good case ground on them such as the pic in KD's post #4, Once I learned that lesson, I have never had one fail. Although I do have...

    Brake issues

The Dual diaphragm booster will be a big improvement. Not so sure about 9" of vacuum. If you can double it somehow I think you will be Okay. With a race engine maybe manual brakes are the ticket.

    Newer cars are stupid.

I too have no desire for the sensor laden vehicles of today. My newest is an 05 300C. It has not been problematic since it doesn't have all the junk like tire pressure sensors and steering angle sensors like the newer stuff does. My financial guru was telling me a couple weeks ago that his new...

    Brake issues

Not sure what you are suggesting here?? A proportioning valve is already adjusted to tone down the pressure to the rear drums. If you have an adjustable prop valve, you can fine tune the pressure to the rear. It does nothing for your front brakes. If you don't have enough boost for the front...

    Brake issues

I suspect you are using a drum brake booster. Probably your problem. Disc brakes require almost double the boost. That is the reason they created the dual diaphragm booster. The master should be ok for you IMO. I went thru, the same issue when I installed front discs on my 68 Charger. Hard pedal...

    Are 11" brakes desirable?

My 68 Charger 383-4 automatic came with 11 X 2.5 drums in the front and I thought 10" in the rear. I verified they are 11" It makes sense that they would be. I sold the front ones when I upgraded to discs.

    Are 11" brakes desirable?

Bib block B bodies got the 11" drums up front in those years and 11" drums out back. Small block cars got 10" all the way around. I upgraded my 68 Charger to discs and sold the 11" drums. I'm not up to speed on if or how much better a 11" is.

What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

I finally was able to get my Grand Daughter's Code ridden Jeep this week-end for some needed maintenance. She went to a wedding in Milwaukee with her cousin so I was able to spend some time with it. It had a couple of codes that needed attention. Pretty common with it. Driver Air bag squib...

What is the quality of 1969 Charger reproduction grilles?

I asked that very question a couple weeks ago to the guy that restored my grille years ago. He restores 68-9 grilles. He told me the parts fit very well. He has bought some of the right and left grille parts for grilles that were too far gone to repair. I was not aware there were more than one...

1968 Dodge Charger - Do I need this part?

If you don't have bumper guards, you probably don't need it. I think the bumper guards bolt to it.

    Engine angle question

That reading is probably not accurate. A better place to read the angle would be on the crank pulley with a straight edge or the transmission shaft. My 68 Charger with a 6.1 and 5R45RFE transmission reads about 4.5 down as well. I had to relocate the spring perches to get the drive line angles...

HOW do I mount shoulder harnesses? 1969 Charger.

All the holes will be there in your car. My 68 Charger did not have the shoulder belts but I installed them when I built mine. I looked for pictures but didn't find where the clips went but I found one showing the anchor hole location. Hope it helps.

14v at idle 16v under load 14v under load with lights on

Hopefully you also have a wiring diagram. You need to take the time and patience to check and verify all of the charging circuits to make sure you don't have a bad connection. If you have a different regulator to try first it may save some time but if it is still sending too much voltage to the...

14v at idle 16v under load 14v under load with lights on

Yes but read the end of that post. He found a bad connection that was causing the high voltage. If all of the wiring is sound, then it could very well be the voltage regulator. Make sure you test and verify the regulator is grounded properly also. A digital ohm meter is your friend here.
