So I’m having pump issues also on my 512 stroker. I temp gun tested across the system and it seems I’m not getting flow and I’m overheating at idle. I pulled pump off it seems ok but looks very stock. I want to go the flowkooler route but not sure if I can put it into my housing which I think...
Hey mate,
Thanks for the input and yeah I feel the same as you on the water circulation. I am going to buy a new water pump as I should have replaced it with the new engine anyway. I’ve already eliminated the collapsing hoses with springs top and bottom. Also I have tested the thermostat which...
Yeah the terminator efi lets me switch them on at whatever temp I select. I had mine set to come on at different temps but one fan isn’t enough to hold it at low enough temperature for the second fan to be needed and 2 fans running just slows the heating down it’s not enough to drop temperatures.
Yeah, my understanding is they need calibration and it can be done by installing knock sensor (in whatever location you can find on a block that never had them) turning the sensitivity right down idling the motor and slowly increasing revs and keeping an eye on what the sensor is detecting. At...
They bolt to the block but we don’t have spare blind holes. I’ve heard of people making brackets but I don’t understand how you’d make one with zero vibrations to be accurate.
The valley plate falls in after you clear the bolted flange at the front. There is no support under the plate running along the head? Of course! Genius! What a mental design how does it not piss oil all the way along the heads this has made my night thank you!
Also agree on the cooling issue I...
Hello all,
Has anyone mounted a knock sensor to a 400B block? If so how and where? Only place i can find is at the top of the block front face. It is supposed to be between the middle cylynders a little low so no valvetrain noise. Any ideas?
Yeah I am looking at fabricating a shroud but I have zero space between pulley and the radiator. Shroud is going to have to be no thicker than 5-10mm so not sure if thats even worse baffle.
yeah the heads are bolted on top of the chamfer each side of the valley plate. I cant pinpoint exactly the location of the leak though.I think its in a few places. I tottally degreased everything and brake cleaned any common tracks and this photo below can see drop under lug below head and...
So bit of an update. I fixed a few of the minor things. Bottom hose, Radiator sealing between the support, burped the system new coolant and water wetter and tweaked my tune its a little on the rich side now. I runs fine and criusing along at 3200rpm 70mph or 120kph temp rose to 205f before...
It doesn’t overheat at idle though? Unless it’s already hot it will go down. First time it done it I pulled over and turned it off for a couple minutes then let it idle in the shade and it came down faster.
You’ve raised a point though I haven’t put timing advance vs coolant in the tune yet
I was going to use this and go for a drive then do it again. Almost finished sealing front of radiator. Bottom hose now has spring. New coolant and water wetter. I also think I’ve found my oil leak I’ve been trying to locate since first start. It’s the valley cover. But have you ever seen one...

160 I am wondering if I need to put a 180 in to let the cooling system have a chance. Once it’s temp is up there seems to be no cooling it without stopping for 10 or 15.
I have factory guage and the sensor in the efi. Factory guage reads 170-230 but stops moving mid way on the guage and temp keeps rising on sensor. I checked with temp gun when got home the engine block was about 210F and radiator same so my sensor seems accurate. looking at temp guage middle of...
