Just went out and the screwdriver trick worked. Snagged it with my long nose vice grips. I know it turned a bit getting it out so not sure what that did to the oil pump position. Wife is looking over my shoulder to take her to dinner so back at it tomorrow. Happy wife, happy life.

Are the rear drums adjusted so the drum drags slightly on the shoes? Does the pedal come up if you pres it several times, " pump it"?

Here's something you might not know about that Detroit that's in that Oliver. That's a left handed engine. It runs backwards. You can tell this because the blower is on the left side of the block. Most normal Detroits had the blower on the right side. Back in the 50s - 60s the old buses...
