Okay then...
Change of plans, dropped the original 70 "383 Magnum" off at Pettis Engineering, Apple Valley CA. Been in the business for 50+ years.
Bob Pettis knows what it is and what I want. The 383 was rebuilt by myself and Cuda' Bob (His car was the red 71 Cuda in the "new" Gone in 60...
I just do not understand why guys purchase aftermarket manifolds unless it is to save weight. I have a special Weiand for 440s and 383HP...but the factory setups were performance oriented as far as I am concerned...
As mentioned, Sleeve a Cylinder..has been perfected for many years, I ALWAYS ask Tech Questions on this Forum as or esteemed members have seen and Done it all. Hell, Race engines have sleeves...and yes, a Good shop has performed many of them is the shop you want.
Yup...so I might sell it cheap and do the 70 Long Block as my Daily Driver in the 70 Superbee...
Yes, thank you Mike...it's a Block I had picked up years ago, already at .060. The guy went bankrupt and divorced, left it at the shop. Im going to do the 70 Longblock I have...I think..
Like this...but I have in my possession:
1. A original 1970 440 automatic engine complete.
2. A Machined 440 block bored 0.60
The plan is to put ta 440 in my 383 Superbee as I removed the 1970 "426" Hemi and putting it up for sale or make a coffee table out of it...
I have my original 383 that...
Well, good point j-c-c-62...but I am not anything you are saying..it's too deep for me, I appreciate your input. I will rely on the Machine Shop :
1. Have machine shop, in this case Pettis Engineering Hesperia CA check block.
2. Magna flux same block
3. Sonic test same block.
All good...
Using...
Wow...that is quite a "Needle in the Haystack" wish..but stranger things have happened. I would just try to get a 1970 "440" and be happy with that. Good luck sir!
