No it will not fit into a 383, I think it is due to the 383 distributor shaft being shorter

It fits in a 1969 roadrunner no clearance issue, I had it in mine. And I am willing to accept any reasonable offers on this. I don't mind holding on to it but figure if any one wants to buy it for there project I am not emotionally attached to it.
