    I do not understand how it can have a 'pick up'....but not be electronic ign [ Post #1 ]. Maybe it is a Pert dist with a module inside? If so & the module is HEI based, it may need a filter [ below] if the tach was designed for use with a points dist.

    Post #2...or....don't drive in reverse... Reversed brake shoes do not cause a grinding noise, they just wear unevenly.

    If the dist has a p/up, then it is an electronic dist & will need a module or box to run it. The tach maybe designed to work with elec ign, not points ign, which has a different output signal.

    Absolute BS. An alum rad is brazed construction. Also, the alum radiators have wider tubes, 1" or wider, that copper cannot. This results in a larger fin area. It is the fins that dissipate the heat. Also, the way the fins are louvered is better in the alum rad, making heat transfer to the air...

    This could be so many things....from wiped cam lobe to simple adjustment. See if the dist is loose. If not loose, it would indicate timing has not moved. If a points dist, check points gap. If elec ign AND vac adv is hooked up, high mileage can break the p/up wires because they flex with VA...

    A copper rad is always going to be weaker than an alum rad because the tanks are soft-soldered to the core....& soft solder is not very strong.
