Original was 68 rr with ac. This one is 70 RR 383 bone stock. Have replaced or replacing all harnesses. Thanks again!!!
Updated to put in the listing of current car. Got it from another member after a lot of negotiation back and forth. Great member!

I put in a new Powermaster 95 amp alternator and was advised to replace my old electromechanical VR to a new solid state one. I did that, but first, checked my voltage at the battery with the old one. I got 14.6 volts while running. Replaced with the new VR and now get 12.9 volts at the battery...
I thought I said you could if you chose to but that is not what I would do. Can you leave all the OEM wiring in place, sure. Not what I would do. I dislike ammeters, never run them, nor leave them connected in any car I have. My usual comment regarding the OEM charge path is leave it all in...
Again, thinking out loud.....
Since you are using a "square back alternator" with a 2 wire field supply, the blue wire at the alternator is connected to the switched power of the ignition circuit, as the FSM calls "the #1 splice", it also furnishes the voltage regulator the system's reference...
Yes, Ehrenburg's article talks about how fleet vehicles had a factory Chrysler bulkhead bypass, eliminating the trouble spots, which he shows some photos of but then he goes into this:
4. To straighten out the wiring problem permanently,
you need some decent supplies. A few feet of...
I also agree....more info is needed, along with pix and possibly a hand drawn schematic diagram. Please explain the details of the MAD amp meter bypass and how did you source the headlight relay modifications. And WHY did you change to a 95 amp Powermaster alternator? Was it the single...
Thanks Leo. Everything is pretty much stock except an aftermarket 95 amp Powermaster alternator. I also did the MAD ammeter bypass and installed a headlight relay. I was at 15.5 volts before, and after cleaning connections and redoing some wiring crimps, etc.., I've gotten it down to 14.95. For...
The factory computer controls the alternator output. You can bypass this setup by using the old school Mopar charging system. Give me a minute to find it.
Hey all, still plugging away on my grandfathers mopars that I picked up last year.
The 71 Superbee is officially a driver, I’ve poured a lot of money and sweat equity into her, and it’s finally paying off. One of the biggest mods I’ve made for reliability is converting the car to a MSD ready...
Geeze, yet another ammeter bypass article based on a false pretense.
“The major ammeter drawback is all the charging system current flows from the alternator through the bulkhead to the ammeter. Then from the ammeter, the current must pass back through the bulkhead to the rest of the charging...
I could of sworn the package for my harness said m&h or something like that but it's been a few years since it was purchased. Plan on doing a "fleet bypass "(I think that's what it's called) so just need it fire up for now.
Nacho, I am trying to understand what you are saying here. First, I understand that you are adamant about keeping the stock ammeter, but some of us are not. I for one saw first hand the damage caused when my Grandpas 1970 Satellite burned up in 1984. Started at the ammeter.
Second, I value...
I just swapped my old one wire alternator for a Denso alternator and it was a simple and very worthwhile upgrade. No lights dimming at idle. Puts out 14.3v at all times. It is internally regulated so you can bypass the old VR.
I had already done the MAD upgrade and installed relays for the...
Good Day
My 66 Coronet runs great, does not charge, wont run with the battery negative off. Alternator tests good, new voltage regulator. I am stumped so far.
I have a 66 Coronet with a 440 4 speed. I purchased the car this way. Changed from a 383 auto to a 440/4 in 1969. I have rebuilt the...
That's incorrect. The alternator belt won't clear the water pump bolts. Shredded a belt trying this. The pulleys must be replaced.
However, you can run the alternator directly off the crank pulley, IF you drop the alternator down to change the angle of the belt, and there are brackets to do that.
1 wire mini alternator , 130 amp, volt meter bypass, because i also installed 2 fans and almost done installing electric water pump.went higher amp output so as the unit would not be putting max amps all the time. my 1700 cfm fans will blow a 20 amp fuse. alternator at low center in pic.
Just curious if its a good idea to bypass the ammeter?
Im installing a 10Gauge wire and want ability to put a new alternator down the road, 100amps.
right now i have a 60amp stock alternator.
i will have stock items in the car not much is changed but who knows what ill decide to add later...
I had charging issues when I first got my '73 got on the road. I was reading 14v at the alternator and 12v at the battery. Turned out I had a few bad connectors and corroded wires. I was able to fix it with some new connectors and wire.
I replaced the entire charging system with a Power...
