Need electrical advice for an electrically-challenged guy

Update: absolutely nothing has changed. I haven’t done s*** with the car since January. How sad. I’ve had a lot going on and I had some other higher priority projects I had to take care of - along with work and all the other things life throws at you. Good news is my 2.5 year old daughter has...

Need electrical advice for an electrically-challenged guy

Ok I had some time to get the wiring harnesses disconnected from the firewall and out of the car. I left the one in that goes to the headlights - they've never given me any issue... if it ain't broke don't fix it. Now I'm just waiting to find time to check the continuity of the wires and repair...

Need electrical advice for an electrically-challenged guy

well when I got the car in 2018, it started up and ran just fine. I reconnected the tach and I had to repair a few electrical connections but nothing major..... so pretty much nothing since 2018. Guess I was on borrowed time

Need electrical advice for an electrically-challenged guy

THANK YOU EVERYONE! I can't tell you how helpful this information is. Once I get some free time (hopefully this weekend) I will devote some time to seeing if I can trouble shoot this. To the guys remarking on how messy the engine bay is: I know... I know... My goal was just to get it running...

Need electrical advice for an electrically-challenged guy

Hello! So this car has been a work in progress for quite some time. I bought it in 2018 and haven't had the space or time to do all the things I'd like to - such as clean up the engine bay and clean up the ratty wiring- but I did get the rusty trunk pan replaced, new rear end, all new disc...

Some rolling footage of my '70 Charger

Messing around with the new drone... Decided to see if it could follow the Charger around. Gotta say, it looks pretty cool. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope...

Finding solution to leaking valve cover gaskets...

Update: I really don’t want to use any kind of sealant but it looks like it’s going that way. A friend suggested using a cork and my felpro gasket together. So I put the cork on first, then the felpro, then the valve cover. It’s still leaking. Not AS much but when I touch the back of the head I...

Finding solution to leaking valve cover gaskets...

What a busy weekend, I had some time to pull the covers and see what’s going on. The gaskets were dry except for around where the bolts go on the last 1/3 of the head - towards the rear of the motor. I checked the level of my valve covers with a straight edge and they were fine. I checked the...

Finding solution to leaking valve cover gaskets...

1970 charger with a 383. I’ve taken the valve covers on and off and changed gaskets about 6 times now and I’m looking for this next time to be the last. both valve covers were leaking from the rear of the block by the firewall so I pulled them off and replaced them with the cork gasket. That...

    Installing adjustable oil pressure regulator

Good info. I’ll be bringing it down a bit and seeing if that changes anything. I don’t like it bouncing off the high end of the gauge. I’m using 10w30. I thought about going to a 5w30

    Installing adjustable oil pressure regulator

Got it, thanks. Just the help I needed. I just want to bring it down a little bit. When it’s cold and I’m under throttle it bounces off 100 psi. I don’t like that

    Installing adjustable oil pressure regulator

My understanding was it fits on the stock oil pump. Which I have. This is the adjustable part that replaces the spring: http://store.440source.com/Adjustable-Oil-Pressure-Regulator/productinfo/200-1093/ maybe I’m just looking at the oil pump wrong I just can’t figure out where the spring goes

    Installing adjustable oil pressure regulator

I have a 383 in my 70 charger. It’s a little ratty but hey it runs! Cold idle is about 85 PSI on a brand new mechanical gauge. Once it gets warm, idle is about 40psi which I’m fine with. Anything over 2000 rpm it jumps back to 80. I bought a oil pressure regulator from the 440 source. Does...

    No crank issue

Volts, its part of a 3-pod autometer setup I put in the car (water temp, voltage, and oil pressure). Haven't tested anything with an electrical tester yet.

Ha ha! This picture was actually from the day I first saw the car and pulled it out of the guys back yard ... it doesn't look much better today but it is a little cleaner ha ha. Thanks for the info guys, I'll do that this weekend if it doesn't rain. California actually got some rain for once
